E63S 4matic
Technical doubts

Hi,

I'm new to the Mercedes performance world.

I have recently bought the 2014 E63S 4matic and I have decided to test the car's performance after getting used to her drivability.

First, I wanted to take my car to a drag strip to see what time my car would. I have been informed that launching my car via Race Start would hurt my car's transmission - due to the extra grip in the drag strip, this was based on a friend on mine and I have no idea if that's true or not, as I've never drove a car on a drag strip so I thought I would share this with you folks to get some feedback.

So I looked around for an accurate GPS lap timer which offers the things I need, there are quiet a bunch in the market and ended up getting confused on which one to get. Therefore, I purchased a simple user friendly iPhone app called "Dynolicious" which offered the things I need. So I decided to test my car via this app to get a rough estimate.

I ran my car multiple times. Attached, you can find my car's results.

Yes, these numbers are not the ones I am expecting. But, there are a few things to note.

Most of my runs were via Race Start.

1) At the very beginning my car would have a slight wheel spin

2) and I felt that there is a slight lag as I released the brake pedal

3) and the fact that I'm using an iPhone app, I'm not sure how accurate it is

Finally, I would like to restate my questions again:

1) would running my car on a drag strip via Race Start hurt my differential/tranny?

2) i know this sounds dumb but, would a small wheel spin in race start affect the 0-60 timing significantly?

3) what GPS lap timer do you folks recommend? I would be really greatful if there is one which times 60-130 runs as well.

4) when car manufacturers claim a 0-60 timing for a car, how do they come to those numbers? I have heard that these claims are slightly underestimated most of the time to avoid lawsuits with cases where purchased cars don't end up getting similar results as claimed, is that true?

If you folks have questions regarding my doubts feel free to share. Looking forward for an insightful discussion.

P.S. Apologies for not adding the attachment, I couldn't upload for some reason.
