Passenger seat going forward in Wagon when folding down cargo area?
This is one thing that drives me nuts with this car. A lot of the time I carry my bike in the back of the car and need to fold down the rear seat, when I do so the front passenger seat goes way forward and cannot be moved back. It makes it very uncomfortable for a passenger as it is very tight up front then. The drivers seat does go forward also but can be moved back. Has anybody figured out a solution to this issue? I thought maybe I'd read a while back that the dealer could program this feature off with the star programmer? The dealer service guy said no, but they tell ya that with a lot of things. The other thing I wish that could be programmed out is the way you cannot close the tailgate with the FOB remote, opens fine, only way to close it is by hitting the red button on the tailgate or the button on the door when the key is on.

Not sure if it's the same in the newer wagons, but in the 2007 E350 wagon, with the seat folded, you can push the latch in the seat latch forward with your finger to make the car think the seat is still up, then move the front seat back as much as you want. If you do this, you have to "unlatch" the seat back again before putting it back up.

I have also read somewhere it's programmable by the dealer. Always ask the same question twice. Better yet, at another dealer since a different answer can be expected most of the time.
Hmm, I need to try this pushing seat latch thing. First, I need to figure out where this seat latch is...

In the '07, it's in the back of the seat on the door side of the seat. It's a black, rotating, latch that only turns in one direction when pushed. This was a must-figure out thing for skis to fit in the car.

Yep, it is programmable, managed to program it out today and all is fine now. Just gotta make sure when I do move the passenger seat back now that it clears and there is nothing in the way as it will do damage to the seat for sure if there is anything blocking it.

yes there is simply a checkbox in the programing options once in there with the star diagnostic tool. They had me sign a waiver incase I was negligent and damaged the seat or anything else due to deactivation of this feature. Now if they can just figure out how to get the rear hatch to go down when pressing the Fob the car will be perfect.

Maybe remove the two rear headrests and leave them in the trunk. Then the likelihood of damaging will be less. I kind of like the older type of headrests that fall back down and flush with the deck behind the top of rear seats. Now the rear headrests only drop straight down with the push of the center console button and they are pretty much occupying the same rear view. Moreover, the center rear headrest cannot even be removed at all.
