E63 4matic question

Hi guys quick question, I'm thinking of getting an e63 wagon, coming from an m5.

The reason Im looking to move is the traction on an m5 as a daily driver in the northeast. I feel I may have made a mistake and should have stepped into an rs7 or e63.

But all the specs I see state that the 4matic in this car is 33/66. I've only read in one place that it can go up to 70% in either front or rear. Is that true?

Thanks

Jeff

The standard 4 Matic system can shift torque front to rear and side to side but the E63 system is fixed at 67/33. This is to make the car both consistent and predictable which is what you want in a high performance vehicle.

It was also to keep down weight and cost.

And as for your next question, yes this fixed split works great! It's extremely predictable, as there's no shifting of torque front to rear. I prefer to drive in snow in Sport ESP mode, where you can very easily 4-wheel drift. It's a blast! After coming from a string of Audis, this is great.

The also a rear LSD which will put more torque to the rear wheel with the most grip. So you have front to rear but also side to side (rear only). As others have said, with snow tires this should be adequate. If it isn't, the snow or mud is so deep you're more likely to high center the car than to loose grip because of the drive train.
