Bad news from sales manager (soup nazy ie Seinfeld!) - "No E63 wagon for you!"
Just got word that my car was severely damaged while in transit on the asian emperor... Enough damage that they can't sell it (warranty issues and all!!) So that's it for now in my case. After waiting for more than a year for this car I don't have the energy to order another one at least for now. Maybe a 2015 but I may consider other options!!
Thanks to everyone who helped me during the last year!! It was really a long and agonising wait made a lot easier but this forum! Enjoy your cars in good health!

That sucks man! Sorry.
MB can and should get you early allocation 15 or 14 now if you wish. Call corporate, I dunno MBCA contacts. Dealer GM can do it, salesman not so much. Ordered cars and shipping screwups happen, they can get one built ASAP if you get right phone #.
PM me if you wish, happy to help. You need this car.
Or you can mutter at MB and see if they'll get you an S63.
Good luck either way.

Hmmm, note to self: salvage motor for build possibly available.

Too bad. Another wagon bites the dust even before it can be enjoyed.
If you ever come to Calgary, I will let you drive mine. I don't have CCB, but the regular brakes work just as good in the city.

I could get new PO right away (sales manager got one right now as an emergency situation and wants me to commit today to get it going) with delivery in may but I'm rethinking the whole thing. I will take my week of vacation to think about it with a couple of Margaritas...
Logical option would be to keep current 93 wagon and get a minivan for the family (3rd kid on the way in july!! not planned when I ordered the E)! Or GL63... but I dont like driving dynamics of an SUV even an AMG one.
I have 4 new mags and winter tires for sale if anyone interested PM me. That should teach me not to be so enthusiastic and order wheels and tires before car is built!!

Too much emotions today... sales rep just called again... turns out the totalled car was another wagon coming to dealer... Mine got dammage to rear bumper, rear right quarter panel/light and dammaged right rear mag... I've asked for pictures to see for myself.
They offer to repair the car, make it a demo for a MB canada senior VP for 3500km and give me 6000$ rebate (on top of the 5000$ off I negociated) so 11000$ off for a 3500km dammaged E63.
I should be able to drive it in about 2 months. Only concern is break in period will be done by somebody else... I know there is a debate about the need for break in on these cars but I'm REALLY **** about these things.
Should I go for it? ask for more rebate? stay away from a dammaged car?
Why so complicated???? Jesus!

No it was on the Asian Emperor (pure car carrier no containers) but probably the same storm as it occured at the same time.

We have 3 kids and the wagon works well. Short of an enormous truck (we have one of those too), 3-row options are sort of hard to deal with when there's an infant seat strapped down to the second row. The GL550 is a great vehicle, but the wagon is what I want my life to be about.
Im sorry for the setback. I know its been a really long road for you... but perhaps Mercedes is willing to go the extra mile to have you get another one, such as looking at available cars around the country that they could put the right price on.
The car is worth it, I promise (and I only have a '12).

Thanks for the booster! I dont think they have that much wagons lying arround in canada compared to what seems to be the case in the US. Anyways I'm waiting on the pics of dammage. I ordered the car of my dreams so it's hard to make a rational decision right now. If I decide to get new PO I might change color (I saw a paladium wagon with Mystic red interior and it looked sick!!)!

Sorry to hear especially after waiting a year. If they can get you a new one by May as opposed to two months for your other option I would go with a new one.

If it's truly just minor damage (verified by pics) why not just ask for a smaller amount of money off and do the deal? You've waited so long and have already purchased wheels for the car...

I concur. I am arduously following the break in on my E63S wagon as I plan to keep it for a while. I wouldn't be interested in purchasing a car which had been broken in by someone who did not plan on keeping the car. Perhaps you can get MB Corp. to cover the cost of an extended warrantee as well as rushing your replacement car into production.

I would definitely lease the car so less of a concern but still... I'm hesitant on spending that much money on a car without having the pleasure of breaking it in...

If it is the car of your dreams, get a new one. Why would you want sloppy seconds on a $150K car? If you are going to lease it and return it after, take the deal as it is a rental car anyway and bag the **** out of it for 3 years.

Lol, not exactly the new car pics everyone hopes for!
Certainly looks repairable... I'd grind them for some money off... they'll definitely get at least cost back from the shipping co... so shouldn't be hard to do.

Yeah, thats not nearly as bad as it could have been.
As I've found out with a couple exotics, there are some shops out there capable (sometimes under duress) of really amazing body repair and paint.

It would be repaired at autolux wich is the official MB body shop in Mtl. It could have deffinitely been worse.

Kart,
SO sad to hear this happened! You have been waiting SO long. This is really a personal decision so take your time and several margaritias
I would either order a new one, or beat them up for the extra $6000 off the car and have it fixed. No discount and let some Schmoe drive it for a month. The car has lost value due to the damage, they should make that right and take care of you. If they won't, let them eat it and order one brand new.
GL63 would be nice but it won't be the same. I drove a GL550 (I know, not the 63 but close) and it feels like a big *** truck with soft suspension and soft brakes...it sure moves down the road in a straight line but it ain't no canyon cruiser.
Good luck,
X
