AMS/ALPHA Performance - First 2014 E63 in the 10's!!! ***VIDEO***
On June 26th we took our 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG 4Matic to Great Lakes Dragway for some preliminary testing of the Alpha 7 upgrade package. Track conditions were not ideal with the temperature somewhat pleasant in the 60’s but accompanied by 100% humidity. When the track lights switched on at dusk you could see the moisture in the air!
Our AMG was equipped with only our Alpha Tune and prototype Alpha Downpipes and Cat-Back Exhaust. The full Alpha 7 Bi-Turbo upgrade will include an Alpha Boost Cooler Kit in the future but we were eager to see the results of just a tune and exhaust. Rolling on 20” Vorsteiner wheels and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires we were hopeful for a very low 11 second run, but ended up with the first E63 4Matic in the 10’s!
First pass of the night Paul staged the car, applied the brakes and gave it a bit of throttle, the launch was undramatic, smooth with no tire spin. When the board lit up we were a bit surprised, 10.850 @ 129.31 MPH, setting a new AMG 4Matic record! After letting the car cool down we staged it for another run, the car launched exactly the same as the first pass, hard with no drama and lit the board up with a 10.879 @ 129.21 MPH. Talk about consistency!
Overall we are very pleased with the results from the night’s testing. Once the M157 Alpha Boost Cooler Kit and Carbon Fiber Intake System are complete we will bring the car back to the track for another round of testing and hopefully hit 130+mph trap along with a mid-low 10 second pass!

Congrats and well done... Great numbers, I've raced in the Kenosha drag away many a time with much much slower cars lol
2.85 second car.... That's 911 and Bugatti territory ... Jesus, and it can cart groceries and toddlers

Congrats to AMS. This looks to be the same car that AMS had out at the Chicago 1/2 Mile Runway Event and week and a half ago. There was a Weistec 2014 E63S running at the same event and it won the fastest 4 door award at the event. It trapped 2-3 mph faster than this AMS car so that begs me to ask the question how fast would that Weistec car go at the drag strip
These big AWD E clases are absolute monsters.

From what we saw the Weistec car trapped 1.3 mph faster (158.2 vs 156.9) at the 1/2 mile and on two different days so its hard to say how much faster one is vs the other. In fact Saturday morning - early afternoon when the Weistec tuned car ran was the best time to run a car all weekend. We were not registered to run that day so of course we didn't run. The DA for Saturday was about 1800ft. The DA when we ran on Sunday was 2700ft. The MPH variance could of easily been contributed to the air quality / temp...is just too close to tell.
Also I am unsure what was done to the other car. Again our car was equipped with just the downpipes (not turbo outlet pipes) a catback and our tune on 20" Michelin PSS tires.
Bottom line is both cars are fast.
I am sure Weistec will get a car to the track soon and put down an impressive time. We have a lot of respect for them and look forward to the friendly competition![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Congrats gentleman :0) 129 is more impressive to me For a 4500lbs lb car , I personally believe the tunes are all pretty much the same. Just who is closer to you location wise and who you want to give your business to.

My mistake, 1.2 mph, but faster is faster and seeing how your car is catless makes it even more of a surprise. You fellas do good work, not knocking you. I watched several of your GTRs killing it out there at the runway races. However that Weistec tuned E63 S is not a Weistec shop car, it is owned by a Weistec customer in the Chicago area and it only has the Weistec tune and down pipes. I was pitted with him over with all the Chicago Motor Cars guys. He is running factory cats primaries and secondaries and pump gas. My CLS is getting long in the tooth, might be time to upgrade to an E63 S Estate Wagon.
If what you are saying is true it should put down a good time. Get him to bring it to the track and lets see what she does. The track conditions for our 10 second pass were far from ideal. If he is making the same power or the car is indeed faster the ET And MPH will not lie at the drag strip. Bench racing isn't going to get us anywhere.

2013 S63 AMG
This will be my next car once the price comes down slightly and I find a used one in the color/setup I want. But, this post makes me want to drive down to my local dealership and have them build me one!
I'm currently rocking a boosted 07 Z06 (also low 10-second) street car and have a 09 ML63 AMG that I share with my girlfriend.
However, I'm on the fence on whether or not to sell my Z to purchase the E63 or just be patient and wait for the prices to drop a little. I didn't know AMS did anything with Mercs (sorry, I'm a year old MB newbie) as I was also looking at Weistec upgrade package for the E63 AMG.
Once you're package(s) are all done and tested and prices released, you'll probably be hearing from me sometime in the not-so-distance future =) !

Wrong, the Weistec tuned car did NOT have turbo upgrade. It has a Weistec pump gas tune and Weistec down pipes. Furthermore the Weistec car had factory cats in place and AMS said their car has no cats. The Weistec car is owned by a friend of mine and I will be bringing it to Byron and piloting it if he can not lay down a good pass on his own.
