underside of trunk?

Gents,
Just had a look at the underside of the trunk and noticed how unfinished it looked. Cables and electronics exposed etc.
This typical of the E?
Never seen this before as its always been covered over in previous cars.

It does look a bit unfinished, however, you need to bend down low to see it.

Where did you get that fold-down hook in the middle? My '14 does not have it and it looks handy to hang grocery bags from.

W211 rear trunk was the same, no covers on the underside of the rear window tray.

'14 E63S, '13 G550, '06 E320 cdi, and a bunch of other stuff.
Components of the optional B&O stereo and the optional Comfort Box mount to the underside of the rear window deck. I think that would require three different molded carpet parts for this model.

Seems like a lot of expense for something you can't see without climbing into the trunk.

Good info thanks.
Only reason I even looked under there was after packing a large hockey bag in the trunk had a tough time getting out as it was getting hung up on the underside.
Then realized everything was exposed and will need to take care in future when filling trunk not to rip a cable or hose off.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Indeed, you don't see them most of the time anyway. It's probably safer to have them open like that rather than having things overheat when covered.

Cars that have passed QC get the fold down replica of the Daimler CEO's stache as a seal of approval.

tree nail was my first mod! Love it. Silly that it wasn't included as standard.

Just used the tree nail for the first time this evening.
What a simple yet effective feature.

Has anyone tried to install the tree nail in a wagon? Coming from a sedan, I DESPERATELY miss this feature.

You know, if y'all had just bought the superior wagon, this would never be an issue.

That's ok... you can't get a Comfort Box in a wagon, so stuff that in your fifth door.

LOL

Who needs a tree nail in a wagon when you can put the whole tree in the trunk... Wagons rule (except those with the wood on the sides... lol)

All kidding aside, our wagons really lack a good way to carry grocery bags. Cargo nets suck for groceries. I love my wagon, but damn this aspect irritates me.

And sure, you can lift the floor and use the tray/box below, but you must first empty the trunk and remove the cargo net. So that option sucks unless you never use a cargo net and never have anything else in back.

I agree that no grocery hooks in the wagon is a major lack of common sense. My Lexus LS460 had four hooks in the trunk. Used them all the time.

MB sells a box with dividers for the trunk. The dividers split the box into three sections.

I am looking to retrofit 942 easy pack load securing kit trunk rails that Canada gets into my car. This way I can use the MB cargo bars and also MB cargo expandable bags that hook onto these floor rails. This will make transporting cargo easier without having things fly around.
