Please tell me if this is a deal or a steal

Local Dealer has a 2014 E63 AMG s wagon with all the goodies

It has been driven 8000 kms, by a "rep" for Western Canada.

It has paint scratches and a front license plate filler panel that they would remove and refinish, and also throw in 4 winter tires

Dealer owner bought or brought the car, and are willing to discount the MSRP by $8000 - the amount of mileage used.

Im offering invoice pricing, and they are not budging!

Should I find another dealer and order a MY2015 and pay X dollars over invoice?

Appreciate your input
This dealer said they would give me only $2000 off MSRP on a 2015.

Invoice pricing for what is a used car? Walk away. That car should be thousands under invoice. Look at the regular E63 with 1000 miles that Mercedes of Des Moines is selling.

I got $1500 over European delivery invoice for an ED 2015 E63 S.

Exactly my thoughts

They are claiming its not used because its a "demo" and has not been registered with the DMV.

Im calling other dealers to get a factory order..

Much better move. The dealer will never sell that car at that price point unless they find an uneducated impulsive sucker.

Isn't a deal and a steal both good?

If you do your homework and look around you can get $1,500 above invoice or 5% off MSRP (both work out to about the same deal). Those appear to be some of the best deals that members are getting on this forum.

Just find another dealer!

It appears that $1500 over invoice is the best you are going to get from a dealer for a 2015 E63 before incentives. That is what I got.

But there are so many ways to get additional savings which involve factory -- not dealer money -- to drive the price down further

1. European delivery - 7 percent off US MSRP and the waiver of the $925 delivery charge. Could yield an additional $8k-$9k or so of savings on the car.

2. Fleet discounts offered to United Airlines Premier frequent flyer members or members of the American Medical Association or American Bar Association (the United discount is worth $3500 for the car). But these cannot be combined with the ED discount so it is either or.

3. One year of prior membership in the Mercedes Club--$500 discount

4. For leases, tools to lower the money factor which then lowers the monthly payment such as:

A. The payment to Mercedes of multiple security deposits (MSDs). Mercedes lets you pay up to 10 of them and each one reduces the money factor by .0007 for a total potential reduction of .0070.

B. Autopay (the automatic deduction of the monthly lease payment from your bank account). This reduces the money factor by .0010 -- for a total reduction of .0080 when combined with 10 MSDs.

C. Single Pay (paying all of the lease monthly payments up front). Reduces money factor by .0080 but cannot be combined with MSDs or Autopay.

The use of the above tools will yield tremendous additional savings below where the dealer can get you as these things come out of Mercedes' pocket rather than the dealer's.

As for me, I am doing European delivery to lower the selling price by another $8k lower than US delivery price and 10 MSDs and Autopay to substantially lower the lease's money factor. These tools will lower my monthly payment substantially.

How does European delivery work? Do you have to pick up the car in Germany and drive it back to the States?

I remember reading that you do that and they then also ship it across the ocean to the US. Someone please elaborate!

It is simple: one buys car at the local dealer, gets discounts and will pick it up at the factory and drives in Europe
At the end of journey, car will be shipped to the local dealer and delivered

There is detailed info at
http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/european_delivery_program

Great way to save money and see Europe at same time, especially if one is planning a trip already

To the OP, I have three points of advice:

1. It sounds like you live in Canada, so ignore all the pricing information you are receiving from US based members as you will not receive as good of pricing from a Canadian dealer as Americans receive from a US dealer;

2. You should be able to get better than $2k off MSRP on a 2015. Even when the 2014s were early in their production cycle, some Canadian members reported receiving $5k off, so it is not unrealistic to get $5k off a 2015 order now (later in the production cycle, some Canadian members reported over $7k off MSRP); and

3. Walk away from the demo -- that is not a good deal for a used car.

Good luck in your search.

Any experience with #3? My dealer refuses to honor that because they said they never get reimbursed by the club and that I've already negotiated a price. I say BS and am looking into it with the MB Club but was just curious of others' experiences.

Anyone also have experience with MBUSA specials? For example MB right now is running an "Evolution Tour" to test their new CLA and GLA. If you go on their test drive they appareantly give you a $500 reward towards the purchase of a new MB vehicle. I was going to stack this with the club discount but the dealer also said those corporate things they don't get reimbursed. Again I smell BS.

The issue with the tour for me is that the closest one is 600 miles away in San Francisco- if I knew it'd work for sure then I'd go and do it but since it's iffy I don't know if I will or not. I also don't know all of the fine print of the tour and it's certainly not advertised that you get a $500 credit but a forum member on the W205 forum did it and received the gift through email (trying to find out fine print but no success).

You pick up the car, get VIP treatment, and then get to plot a course through the German countryside or wherever.

You just need to have the car at the specified port at the scheduled time. You drop it off at a particular location and return home. The car is then shipped back to the States for re-delivery.

BMW does European Delivery as well. The BMW ED experience is exceptional. If you want to see ED "journals" from customers that chose that option, do a search over at Bimmerpost. The photo journals that members post up are incredible.

Thanks gents...

It appears the Night package for 2015 will include blackout window trim and roof rails - this is a no brainer for me as I noted the 2014 had aluminum.

Does Polar white or Diamond white seem to be the preferred white chosen here?

Diamond was "deep" and shows the body contours off nicely though polar would look killer with the Night package...

Anyone know if the 2015 Carbon exterior package would have blackout roof rails and window trim?

You need to remember, however, with things like ED, MSD or Single Pay, these things have separate costs that really need to be attributed to the cost of the car or lease rate for those leasing. For ED, you need to count the cost of you actually travelling to Europe unless you have need to otherwise be there at the time of delivery. For MSD or Single Pay, you have to count the opportunity cost on your money, which appears to be important for those lease (I certainly hope nobody leases cars in this price bracket because they cannot afford / don't have the cash to purchase it).

CF package DOES NOT get you any of the night styling black parts. So no to the black window frames and roof rails.

Yes you're correct, for 2015 they added the black window frames and roof rails (wagon only) for the night styling.

I've seen a good mix of Polar White and Diamond White on the E63. IMO they both look great with the Night Styling. Which white is really a personal preference, I like how Diamond is metallic and has more depth to it vs. Polar White is just straight on no fuss gloss white.

Cant seem to get more than 2K off MSRP on a '15factory order - dealers citing low allocations for Wagons, its difficult here in Canada..

Any Canadian brethren here negotiate a greater than $2K off factory?

where exactly are you located?
8K off sure be a deal for brand new 2014.
I believe I can easily get 5K off MSRP for a 2015 order from my dealer.

I'm in Edmonton - even called Calgary, was no deal off MSRP.

If you don't mind me asking - who is your dealer and do you have a contact there?

Thank you!

Both - although D.Morris were flat out rude and "insulted" to sell it less than MSRP - sales manager was absolutely ruthless
