$81k is the number. That's what the dealer owns it for and I have seen the Manhiem auto auction invoice. $81k for a car without an accident would be a deal and no brainer. I actually think $81k is still a deal given what I have learned about the car talking to the body shop that did the work and the dealer that sold the car. Keep in mind the car has 4700 miles and had a MSRP of $113k when it sold on 12/27/13.

Also, I think Carfax doesn't always tell the true story and you have to do your own research. I think I'm going to pull the trigger and tried to get it for $77k but no dice. It's $81k or it's going to auction in 10 days.

Thoughts?

Given the price of $81k... My thoughts would be to wait for a better car

I'm not seeing the "deal" here but of you're happy, that's all that matters

I think it's a deal. $81 for a car with a big MSRP and all that extra stuff? If you don't buy it please share the info as I think someone else on here may be interested.

So this is a deal:

- Crashed E63S with repair that still isn't in spec
- "add ons" that will arguably render your b2b warranty useless (addons usually don't add value to your car and in this case may take value away, amg owners usually value their warranties -- have you seen all the threads on warranty vs tune or best place to buy warranty?)
- a dirty carfax that will always haunt the title
- a car that in a few more months will be a year old and already valued at $80-83k retail withOUT a dirty carfax

The alignment is in spec now. I have the paper work showing that and have done a lot of research on this car. The accident is certainly the issue that makes me hesitant because it's on record. Based on what I learned it was not a terrible accident, front bumper, driver headlight and paint. That's not the end of the world and I have not found anything yet below $90k with 4000 miles or less. Another opportunity always exists so it becomes a decision if I'm willing to spend $81k to deal with a potential problem later.

Well it all depends how long you want to keep that car?
If you feel it is THE car as long as the problem is fixed and everything is back to specs, the color is your first choice, the options as well I would say go for it!
That price is great for a E63 S with 4000 miles. My 0.02cts.

White and Silver are my color choices always. It is optioned the way I want which is rare to find for a used car. Even has the side rear window shades, lol. Probably keep it 3-5 years depending on how much I like driving it.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
It does not sound like too bad a deal as long as the warrantee is still good. Maybe offer them 79K and settle on 80 or something.

I tried and $81k is the number. I think I'm going to pass but will make a decision by Monday. I think my offer was fair and correct.

Your offer was fair. The bottom line is that if you negotiate correctly, a new 2015 E63 S can be had for about $1500 under invoice minus the better of fleet discount or manufacturer to dealer cash. I believe that last holiday season that cash was $4,000 -- meaning a total potential savings of about $5,500 under invoice or a total savings of about $12,500-$13,000 off MSRP. At that kind of savings level, the gap between a new E63 S and a used one with a dirty Carfax is just too small.

Curious, how to do you get this kind of info? I maybe making a purchase in the next couple of months so this type of knowledge would be extremely helpful.

Thanks
Mike

The info was based on my own deal for my 2015 E63 S and for a deal I helped one of our fellow members get for the same car. If you want more info feel free to PM me. Always fun to help fellow members avoid paying too much.

I can testify to this as I am that member! This forum helped me save thousands - let me know if after you talk to sdg1871 you want add'l info on my experience - but he and others gave great guidance before pulling the trigger

Yes I found some good information on the site which helped me. That being said as a lifelong BMW owner, I am shocked at how little information there is on the Internet forums about buying Mercedes cars. By contrast there is a huge wealth of information on the BMW forums about details relating to price, leasing, financing, incentives and the like for BMW cars. I think we Mercedes folks have to do a better job Sharing information on prices paid and deals to help our fellow members.

The biggest single thing a member can do to get a better price is to avoid the salesman and go directly to the sales manager. The salesmen simply need to get as big a commission for each car as possible. Sales managers, on the other hand, have a tremendous incentive to move cars and get revenue and deal numbers up. I had multiple situations were salesman for Mercedes insisted on full MSRP. I went to the sales manager and that suddenly became invoice or less before incentives.

The story about salesmen vs sales manager is true. I'm currently experiencing it. So far the best offers I get are from managers that call me back when I virtually "walk away" after talking to a salesmen.
But yet I haven't found the deal that will make me pull the trigger

Can't agree more. The salesman over the phone wouldn't budge from $97k and once I started talking to the manager we got to $92k in one very short phone call.

My 2c: run away and don't look back.

Last year December discount was 4k, some folks got 8k or more off MSRP

I would say right now you could get a new 2014 for up to $14k off MSRP if you shop around. Maximum mileage could be 200+ miles on some models.

Typical experience. AMG cars are rare vehicles and a salesman would rather lose a cheap sale to preserve the car for someone willing to pass close to sticker so they'll make a nice commission. From their perspective once that car is gone for invoice or lower they lost their opportunity to make a commission on it and another one may not come for quite a while.

Is it true you can still get a lease on MB car with 999 miles or fewer?

Last time I checked yes. But don't expect the lowest money factor.
