The ECU is back!!! The car sounds amazing with the Renntech sport mufflers. Such a low muscle car sound.

How would you describe the sound when compared to stock? Does it drone at all at highway speeds? Thanks!

The sound is very low and deep. More so than stock. A real 1960s American muscle car bellow. No droning at highway speeds.

That looks awesome - makes me think that I should tint mine.

Awesome - glad you got the beast back before getting hit by the snow storm.

I have the chrome inserts too though I left mine... Not so bad looking on white diamond... Really an eye sore on your dark 63

Z Tech has been great over the years. I think this was the fifth car they did for me today. I think you can tint year round, just takes slightly longer to dry. It was $850 for everything. Will be $100 less if you don't do the sunroofs. $200 less if you opt out of the windshield.

Forgot to mention that the set of Blizzak LM-32 went on this morning, and they worked great in what little snow we had today. For some reason, they also seem to be quieter than the stock Pirelli's. During the tire swap, I had the tech weight my wheels and was surprised at how heavy the non-forged stock wheels were. With the TPMS sensors, the rear 19x9.5 weighed 28.6 lb and the front 19x9.0 weighed 29.1 lb. Yes, we double checked and the smaller front wheels definitely weighed 0.5 lb more. Perhaps the alloy they used for the front wheels was slightly denser.

With that being said, I went ahead and ordered a set of the new HRE FF15 in black. Specs state that the 18" starts at 19 lb, so my salesperson says the 19's should weigh 20.5 to 21.0 lb. Does anyone know how much the $1700 forged wheels weigh? I am looking forward to the 8 lb unsprung weight saving per corner.

The wheels are on pre-order status right now and should arrive by the end of March. Perfect timing for proper breaking-in of the car and then change to summer wheels and do a tune.

Sweet setup! $550 ain't bad for tint ... Though I know places that'll do it cheaper but they are not 5 min from home like z tech... Z tech formerly ziebart did all my cars as well...

Congratulations! Sweet ride. I also have a steel gray with night pkg I just got last month and I really love the color combo.

That's very interesting about the stock wheel weights. What width and offset are you going with for the HREs?

19x9.0 ET35
19x9.5 ET45

Since they are on pre-order, I am also thinking about a set of BC Forged RS43 in gunmetal.

I ended up driving it home about 30 miles in snow. Couldn't get into the accelerator due to the snow. But the low bass rumble from the Renntech sport mufflers is deeper and louder than stock. The Pirelli Sottozeros were fine in the snow except when it got a little deeper. Then I had to use more caution.

Awesome car joseyu!

Looks really good with the tint, glad your removing those chrome inserts. They don't go well with your night styling. I had them on my palladium E550 and took them off myself with dental floss. On my steel-grey 507 I wrapped the chrome top of the handle with 3M 1080 vinyl to black it out and match the rest of the black trim.

Looks good. I am going back to the dealer tomorrow for some promised items, so I will ask them to remove the chrome inserts. We will see how it looks before I start wrapping other parts.

I am also leaning towards the AMS direction because of the custom tune factor.

The car goes back to the dealer tomorrow for the chrome insert removal. Just decided to do the Opti-Coat Pro paint protection, and that will go on Monday. This will be it for now until spring time, when the new HRE FF15 wheels go on with the Pirelli tires and then a tune. Since this is my daily driver, I am planning to stop there in terms of mods.

Good choice - no clear bra? I swear by it on my car. Especially on the headlights prevents fading.

Never had one on any of my previous cars, and I am usually easy going when it comes to small scratches. I don't freak out when the front plates get drilled on to the front bumper, heck it's the law. I normally don't keep a car for longer than 3-4 years, so there's probably no need for one.

I ran without front plates for three months them had the dealer add the plates... Less anxiety over getting pulled over and ticketed

Thanks! Chrome door inserts are now off and the car will get the Opti-Coat Pro treatment Monday. Hopefully the weather will be better by then for pictures. We are probably going to get 10-14" of snow between now and Monday. The E63 will be safe and sound in the garage while the GL550 with Nokian Hakkapellita tires and off road package will go out tomorrow for some fun.

Hard info to find! Before ordering I looked and could not find answer on weight difference between stock forged vs cast... should be in the MB selling points!
