CL65 to E63?
The wife wants me to trade my '08 CL65 (45000 miles) for a E63 due to it being out of warranty and she just flat out hates it.

Happy wife happy life
Can't argue with her on the warranty concept. What do YOU want to do... Does your opinion matter in your household?

Thanks for the reply..................space isn't an issue, empty nesters. The power is the main reason she doesn't like the CL but she doesn't know that the E63 is just as, if not more powerful than the CL.

Lol
So far everything you've mentioned is predicated on what your wife's impression is of the vehicle ... Why don't you have her test drive it. You have yet to discuss your perspective on what you're looking for in a vehicle. Your original post is extremely sparse and yet you are looking for these elaborate replies.
The e63 in C mode is pretty dog slow unless you jump on it.
Good luck

Besides the above..........................what is YOUR impression of the E63?

My impression is that my E63 wagon rides more firmly/roughly than the CL. Also, the seats can be made comfortable, but they are a little more firm and narrow than the CL.
Its pretty close, but I think the E63 is slightly noisier on the inside too.
I do agree that in the long run an E63 could be less expensive to own. My recollection is that the CL65 has similar upkeep to the SL65/S65, both of which are substantial.

I had a w211 E63 before the CL and as far as being comfortable to drive ......no comparison. I like the CL but a little concerned about the cost of repairs other than the normal wear and tear items, which I can do myself.....well mostly.

W211 and W212 are light years apart in terms of driving dynamics, comfort, convenience items, etc.
From a performance perspective, a facelifted E63 would lay waste to your CL65.

Of course there is something undeniably suave and sexy about owning a V12. Nothing beats the smoothness of a V12.

My wife wanted a new E63 so we bought her one. She loves it. It is a great, really fast car. But, I kept my S65. I have driven a CL65 but not owned one. In my opinion, the E63S is nowhere close to a CL65 in luxury, comfort, smoothness and overall refinement. Plus a tuned 65 is an extremely fast car, it just does not have AWD for the initial launch. Make your decision knowing the E is a great car but there is much you will miss if you sell the CL.

I just made the trade last month. 05 cl65 to 14 e63. Completely different car but I'm happy with the switch. E is much sportier, rides a little stiffer but handles light years better. 7 speed a bunch more fun!
