xxGenericSNxx's 2015 E63 Wagon Build/Photo Thread

This is a follow up to my European Delivery experience which you can read up on here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...to-thread.html

This thread is going to be in similar style to my R63 Thread (found here: https://mbworld.org/forums/r63-amg-w...to-thread.html)
where I'll continually update it with my photoshoots and modifications to this car.

I've finally been redelivered my E63 Wagon on February 16, 2015 after dropping
it off at the port in Bremerhaven, Germany on December 5, 2014. It was a surprise
that the car came when it did because MB's computer systems never updated to say
the car has been handed off to the shipper once it was at the VPC. It simply showed
up at my dealer and I immediately made the drive down to take a look at it while it
was being prepped here:

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...25b3891f6f.jpg

As promised, MBUSA fixed the front bumper holes at the Vehicle Processing Center
in Long Beach, CA from MB drilling in my front plate during European Delivery. The
finish on where the holes were is indistinguishable from the rest of the bumper, however,
there is the slightest shade difference in the paint against the fenders in certain lighting.
Oh well.

As a reminder here's my spec:
Short version- 2015 E63 AMG S Wagon designo Mystic Brown with designo Mystic
Red interior and designo Natural Bamboo trim. Every US available option except
the VPC ones (which were wheel locks and chrome door cups).

xxGenericSNxx 03-02-2015 01:39 PM

The car was ordered back in July, 2014 when the 2015 build slots opened up,
picked up in Germany on November 27, 2014 for European Delivery, dropped
off December 5, 2014, redelivered in Seattle on February 5, 2015. That was a
very long time to anticipate the car arriving which provided the opportunity to
stock up on car parts. Immediately after pick up I dropped the car off to have
a new car detail, 22ple paint sealant, Clearplex for the windshield, and Xpel
Ultimate clearbra applied to the full front, distronic, A pillars, front of pano roof,
CF trim, lower doors, side skirts, and rear bumper.

Here are the completed mods:
-HRE S101 20" brushed clear lips with matte black centers and HRE CF Center Caps
(20X9 front 20X10 rear)
-Michelin Pilot Super Sport 265/30/20 295/25/20
-Extra designo Natural Bamboo Trim for under the armrest on the door panels
(prefacelift W212 came with matching trim here while facelift got generic silver trims)
-Fire Extinguisher with compartment under the driver's seat (European Option)
-942 trunk rail system (standard in Canada/ European option)

Here are the planned mods so far:
These parts are on hand:
-581 Skibag Passthrough*
-115V house plug for rear seating area (option available on non AMGs)*
-Front Ashtray Delete*
-Schaetz Rear Bumper Protector
-SL Nappa Leather Airbag*

These parts are in process:
-Custom Carbon Fiber lower 3 fin diffuser (currently unfinished plastic- in process)
-Custom Carbon Fiber Air Intake Flics (currently gloss black plastic- in process)

These parts are ordered:
-AMG Door Pins (ordered)
-AMG steering wheel trim (ordered)
-Brabus Paddle Shifters- Aluminum (ordered)
-Extra Bamboo trim under the speedometer (matching trim on W212 until mid 14 production-
then decontented to generic black plastic)

These mods are planned:
Euro Convex Mirrors
RENNtech Carbon Fiber Rear Wing
Window Tint (currently undecided on percentage)
432 Passenger Dynamic/Multicontour/Massage Seat (in process)*
Euro Rear Door Locks (allows you to open rear doors while locked, like the front doors,
and adds child safety locks)*
Euro Tail Lights (amber blinkers)*
*Most Euro mods ordered/in process of ordering with Steve at MBenzNL

Enough talk, here's how the car currently looks on the HREs:

Fire Extinguisher- you can actually just buy the fire extinguisher and fit it into your stock compartment under the seat. You only have to remove a black plastic filler trim within the compartment itself to make the fire extinguisher fit. I didn't know this until I did the install, but the advantage to ordering the whole compartment is that you get the "F" symbol on the handle.

942 Trunk Rails- this rail system, which is standard in Canada but unavailable in the US, allows you to mount a gate across the trunk that is adjustable to hold your cargo in place. It also comes with an expandable fabric unit that allows you to hold oddly shaped items in place such as a plant. I also got the MB accessory "Concertina Bags" which is an accordion style bag that mounts into the rails and has four compartments to hold your misc. items.

The overall install is very straightforward. Remove and replace all four side carpeted panels. Remove the six hooks mounted into the floor. Install side panels and rails. I did it in my garage in about two hours.

Here's how the stock trunk looks:

Looks awesome Nathan. Congrats!

Car looks great. And the color is awesome, but not something I could have bought without seeing first.

How did you get trunk rail system and how much was it (if you don't mind). It looks like something I could really use in my wagon.

LFC09 03-02-2015 11:13 PM

ditto concertina box

Luckily I saw designo Mystic Brown in person on an E63 Wagon as I was ordering, and saw the designo Mystic Red interior before I ordered. The only thing that I had not seen in person before receiving the car was the designo Natural Bamboo. I'm very happy with how everything turned out.

Trunk Rail System was acquired through Steve at MBenzNL.nl (send them an email) from the Netherlands. This kit includes the one gate and flexible unit kit. Cost was 900 Euro (excluding shipping) because I have B&O stereo which changes the trunk floor. Steve said if I didn't have B&O stereo the cost would be more because I'd also need a different floor.

Concertina Bags were 150 euro (before shipping). The part number is B6 664 0004 (doubt you can order it in the US but maybe you can get it from Canada since they have the rail system on the cars there).

Hey, Congrats on the sick build do mind pming me where you got all your upgrades from?

UNC Sooner 03-03-2015 09:45 PM

What do you get with the Front Ashtray delete? I just pulled out the ashtray and bought a cover for the lighter socket. Also, what is the AMG steering wheel trim? Any pics? Thanks for all of the other pics. Great leather choice.

afaedC63 03-03-2015 09:57 PM

Thanks for the reply. One last question.. whats with white "Bird droppings" like stuff on the car? I only see it in the first picture.

Most Euro parts (like the option retrofits) came from Steve at MBenzNL.nl He's the guru of retrofitting stuff onto MB so I leave it to him and his prices are competitive to if I were even able to order the parts in the US.

Can you be a little more specific on what you're looking for in case that doesn't answer the question? Otherwise things like HRE, RENNtech, or general MB parts can be ordered from their respective dealers.

Front Ashtray Delete-
You get this:
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...ml#post6280621

Part number 212 680 53 50 (probably not orderable in the US)

AMG Steering Wheel Trim-
Basically it says "AMG" in matching aluminum on the bottom instead of "airbag" in gray plastic. No pics of my own yet since this part is on order for me.

That's the polish the dealer used for new car prep. Still many scratches and some swirls in the paint so I had a light polish and paint sealant done at my friend's detail shop less than 24 hours after I took delivery.

Once again, gorgeous wagon!!! I can imagine your satisfaction!:y

abcut973 03-04-2015 12:59 PM

Nice build :y
What offsets on the HRE? And by the way aren't they S101 not S201?
I think you need a slight drop in the front.

You're right they're S101- typo on my part.

20X9 ET27 front and 20X10 ET39 rear.

You're also right, the front could use a drop. 3 finger gap at the moment and IMO 2 would be perfect, but, the front end is already kind of low (barely clears my driveway). What I wish this car had is the front lift (or all around lift) airmatic system that other MBs had, then I could do a drop without worrying about scraping. I'd like to do a front lip at some point in time too which is asking for even more trouble.

abcut973 03-04-2015 01:12 PM

I get you :naughty:
Mod bug ... where does it stop? lol

Beemie 03-04-2015 09:16 PM

Love these pics - such eye candy - your car is GORGEOUS!! Congratulations :)

How complicated (i.e. quick) was to change out the aluminum trim under the doors? If I get those pieces I'm sure I'll have a shop switch it out, but I like to get an idea of how long it really takes so I'm not surprised by the quote. I didn't think I'd care enough about the armrest trim, but now that I've seen yours the want is strong!

Did you receive the steering wheel/gauge cluster trim piece yet? That seems like a more involved install since the the piece surrounding the gauge cluster needs to be switched out also, right?

I should take delivery of my wagon in another week or two - it exited the Panama Canal on Monday. It'll be almost 6 months since I got my PO# - the 2016s are on its heels! But I know the wait will be worth it. In the meantime, I'm living vicariously through you and other lucky devils :D

RW Carbon 03-04-2015 09:47 PM

Wow that is an amazing exterior color. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

AMGoneday 03-04-2015 10:58 PM

Epic! Stop by if you are going to Canada anytime soon.

alialsaleh 03-06-2015 05:50 AM

i mean where did you get the extra trim and where are you getting the custom carbon parts done?

Newzchspy 03-06-2015 06:40 AM

Gorgeous car and great thread. You my friend are sick.........in a good way. That car is BTTB....

* Bad To The Bone*

Thank you again everyone for the complements.

-Trim under armrests. There are a bunch of clips that hold these pieces in. My tech used a trim removal tool and carefully worked from one end to the other to release all of the hands that hold it in. Took slightly over an hour for all four pieces. Make sure the tech removes the trim with the metal clip attached otherwise it may fall into the door panel.

-I've ordered the speedo trim but haven't received it yet. I'm not really sure how disassembly and reassembly is for that part yet.

-Glad that you're finally getting the car soon! Have you ordered any trim pieces yet?

All trim are OEM so I just ordered it from my MB dealer.

CF parts are being produced by my own factory. I should have photos of the CF pieces next week. If there's enough interest I can make more pieces and put it into production.

alialsaleh 03-06-2015 10:52 PM

yeah dude definitely put me down for the CF parts
