folding mirrors and automatic braking?
Has anyone had auto emergency braking, or folding mirrors added to their car after taking delivery?
If so, what was invovled and the cost?

Wow. That would be an awful lot of work and expense - if at all possible.
Adding a motor to the mirrors to fold them is easy enough, but how are you going to control the system?
Autonomous braking would be near impossible as it involves close interconnection between hardware and software and many sensors.
You'd be better off selling your current vehicle for a similar one that had the features you want.

Contact Steve at mbenznl.com. Steve can sell you the needed parts. I had installed folding mirrors on my C32. You will need a new mirror control switch and maybe new door control module. Hopefully you will not need to update your SAM. The auto emergency braking is more complicated but see what Steve has to say about it.

I've talked to Steve about retrofitting power folding mirrors and Distronic onto a 212 body.
He said that for some reason he can't get the power folding mirrors to work 100% for the W212 even though he can do it on pretty much every other MB chassis.
Distronic is something he's added to a W212 before but he said he wouldn't do it again as it was a very involved process compared to adding Distronic onto older platforms, such as the W211. From what I understand, much of the version coding cannot be done locally through his computer but instead must be connected to MB servers or something like that.

It depends on what 100% means. On my W203 the mirrors don't fold automatically when the car is locked but I can manually fold and unfold them using the updated OEM switch. For me this was good enough. BTW, I've been dealing with Steve and his sister since 2004. Even had a chance to meet him once when he activated my VIM. Super nice people.
