I have de-badged the last four E wagons, including the latest, E63s. I even replaced the hood Tri-Star with the flush badge on my 210's. Not that I am ashamed of the marque, but I hate advertising the tranny, the engine size, the name of my dealer, etc. Plus, if they gotta ask.........
Any thoughts on de-badging?
You understand. If they know the car, they'll appreciate it. If they need to see a big number on the back and "AMG" to appreciate it, they should be avoided.
Also removed the tri-star and replaced all the chrome with something more tasteful. The only thing left thats "bright" is the red calipers, but I don't like the irreversibility of painting them.
I hate advertising for the dealerships, I always take off any kind of decals or licence plate frames that indicate a certain dealership.
If they want to pay me to advertise, then maybe I would consider leaving them on?

Not sure why you guys want to debadge, thats the best part of the car. I stop everytime I get out of the car and look at the AMG badge before walking away. Personally to me a Debadged car is a car that had a bad paint job and they forgot to put the badges back on.

I would love to de-badge due to the same reasons as mentioned above by others. However, I hate having to put them back on when it's time to trade-in/sell. I don't even know how and where to put them back on without a template. They will probably be crooked when re-badged without a template. Any suggestions on the re-badging process?
I'm a big fan of no badge, creates such a nice clean look on the rear, and like you said.....
if they gotta ask
it's been the first 'mod' on my last three MB's....
and the hell with putting it back on for trade in lol, they can handle that themselves...
I def agree on removing any sort of dealer insignia, no way in hell I'm putting in for their name lol......it actually really bugs me when I see cars with the dealers name on them hehe

I just painted my car and left the badging off because I like the clean look . Anyone that knows what they are looking at can tell by the huge calipers that it's a AMG . Also, while my choice of color might not be for everyone , I don't think anyone views my car as having a"bad paint job". I believe in buying nice things because I want them, not to advertise to the world that I can afford them. Nothing against keeping the badging but I just like the clean look.

You can create a simple template with a sheet of paper, a pair of scisors and a sharpie marker. You put the sheet on the car with masking tape, mark specific landmarks on the sheet with sharpie and cut out emblem location with scisors before debadging. To replace you just stick template to same location using landmarks and put badge in the hole.
I paid $100,000 for the amg badge, I'm leaving it, thanks.
Don't care about what others do and don't know about the car lol, they'll hear me coming ... Like the clunk clunk of my shotgun ... They know what's up
But you guys also bought the right to do what you damn well want to the car!

I have thought that it would be fun to salvage the E320 badges from my first several cars and put them on, but that is kind of psychic self abuse. I am happy with the red calipers, the modest AMG on the grill and, of course, the sound speaking for me.
I tought of ordering a Brown E63S with Beige and wood interior, than debadge it for the full Sleeper effect.....but did not have the guts to do it !
Would be fun to see the reactions though !

Mercedes used to make the sheet that pre spaces the individual letters as a templet . For example the decklid emblem would show how far from the edge it went as well as how high above the decklid finish panel the emblem went . They stopped doing this for some reason. As far as trading the car in most dealers could care less if it's rebadged or not .Unless you are working with a sales guy that's looking for a reason to knock your head off on your trade allowance , the badges probably wouldn't even get mentioned.
Once had a cop follow me off the freeway just to snap a pic of my bumper sticker... couple that with my "328i" badge and my M3 got many a confused look. Silly fun.

Thought of similar before. Maybe I should just go ahead and do it. What kind of adhesive do I use to glue them back on?

Do I bring them a bag of removed badges at trade-in or can I keep them as souvenirs?

I used to have a Supra that I eventually took the rear wing off and filled the holes because I liked how clean it looked without it. A few people said "but all the turbos had wings, now it doesn't look like a turbo". I said it's putting down 874 hp to the wheels so I don't feel I need a wing to make my point lol

I had my wagon debadged before I took delivery.
I did this for multiple reasons.
1) Stealth Factor: Having a super powered station wagon is unexpected and almost oxymoronic. I like the idea of pulling up to a car at the stop line, and leaving them trailing behind wondering what happened. Of course, bright red calipers give a big hint that the car isn't an ordinary wagon.
2) I bought the car for what it does, and not to show people what I purchased. If they know cars, they'll figure it out. If they don't, so what. I don't need to look at the logos to appreciate what I get to drive. AMG is on the rims, and I've left the Mercedes-Benz propellers in place. Not everyone has the resources to buy one of these cars. I'd rather be as under the radar as much as possible.

I like the 328i, but why not a 320i?
I was seriously considering E250 BluTec, but haven't done it.
I'm with you PeterUbers. My AMG E63 with P30 that MSRP for $116,000 and I also have an 2011 E350 with sport package. I did debadge the E350 hoping a E550 or AMG don't clown my E350. Now I have a W212 AMG E63 with P30 and don't plan on debadging the AMG simply because there is not a whole lot of cars out there that can beat my new toy and I want them to know while behind me that this is a AMG that is smoking them.
I don't understand why people want to debadge the AMG ? That is like buying a Porsche 911 Turbo and debandging the Turbo or 911 Turbo or better yet, debandging the Porsche all together.
Keeping in mind that all dealer, shop badge has to go, but not the AMG namesake or why buy a AMG. It's not like you will be racing every car that pulls up so they will only know after the race that yours is a AMG. I want my AMG badge to shine, not be invisible.
Wear your AMG proud.

Showing off? I don't know about you, but my AMG came with all its badges directly from AMG. I didn't add anymore AMG related badges nor did I take any off. If people think that is showing off they should avoid paying almost double amount of money for a AMG 63 vs. E350.
If people choose to rebadge their AMG E63 to a E350 is purely by choice, but I would hardly think simply not to choose to debadge mine AMG E63 as showing off.
If I had a regular 911 Porsche and added a Turbo badge, that might be showing off, but I don't consider showing off if I buy my car the way it was build with the appropriate AMG badges.

@davidkuo0330 because it's not always about showing off ;]
