Winter Beater Drags
They only installed the timing lights at the end of the 1/4 mile, so no 60ft, 330 and 1/8 mile times, and zero track preparation. Temp was 40*F and lots of rain puddles on the return road and parking area.
My '15 E63S is still on the Winter tires with a square set-up of 4 x 255 Nokian Hakka 8. Only mod is the Plug-in Rebellion Tune.
I went for fun and mixed it up with the few Civics and Mitsu on site. I did 4 runs as is and using Launch control, I got a best of 11.90 at 123.57 mph, 11.92 at 123.59 and 12.01 at 123.07. Car spun for about one second each time and I could feel the electronics holding back from giving full power untill about 50 mph.
On my very first run I did not use Launch control and got a slower 12.34 at 122.19, car was slow to respond at launch.
After that, I unplugged the Rebellion unit to see what the stock Tune would give, but by that time it had started to snow again and I tried anyway on a wet track but with Launch control the car just spun endlessly even going sideways at time, so I aborted the run and tried again with the same results. Timeslips on pic.
Toworrow I'll get the summer Pirelli on, so I may go back on a warmer and drier day and compare.
Overall it was a fun experience, and all other car owners were impressed as I had the only Winter Beater (by far) to run 11's !
Let me know if tou go back I might join you (first drag experience!).
Very easy car to drag with, nothing brutal like the Viper.
Next time I may have a Latte in one hand !
It'll do better on the summers I'm sure!
Waiting for ICar to open up so I can try the E63 out there, but I think I'll need a pair of drag radials. I had my C63 out there and ran a 12.5 with crazy wheelspin and my E63 is rear drive also...
So, for about half the price of a full Renntech, Alpha or Weistec Tune, it gives you half the power increase also, but since it's plug & play you can install it yourself, bypass it when going to the dealer and I'll remove and possibly sell it back when my lease will be up in a few years.
