I found a red carbonfiber start button on eBay. It is an overlay that you attach to your start button. Even the $200 start buttons are an overlay. This is like $22 so it was worth a try. It came out great.

I wouldn't pay $200 for the red button mod, but I'll give $10 a shot for fun. I can't imagine how it would deteriorate other than maybe the text wearing off. If the happens once a year, I am still ahead of the game.
If you really want to know how it holds up, I'll let you know.

I have had the 10 dollar overlay for over a year now and it is exactly as I bought it. Sunlight doesn't reach it and its covered in clear coat, nothing is going to happen to it ever. Unless you buy from Macarbon ($200) which is not an overlay all the other 80 dollar ones are a button with the overlay pre attached, huge markup and ripoff. If the 10 dollar piece fails after a year I will gladly pay another 10 dollars to replace it, doesn't make sense for me to pay so much for something so simple.

Sounds a little defensive. I'm not critical of paying for finely crafted things if that is what you want. I paid a ridiculous amount for a German-made Mercedes key chain that I wanted instead of a Chinese copy, because that was important to me.

Purchased a red start button today for my new car.
Its a pity that Mercedes dont offer it as standard, looks awesome imo. Gives the car a real supercar feel to it.

Red makes the car go faster and delivers a few more HP. lol

The Macarbon are charging a much higher price for literally the same thing that sticks on the starter button from ebay. I found a genuine carbon fiber one on there for $30.
If it was a genuine MB part in all facets, then I could understand.

I find this so funny. BMW guys are swapping their red start buttons for black and carbon fiber while we swap ours for red

Thats priceless. Given the safety of being in MB forum, I will proudly say that their ****ty interiors probably dont need anything to brighten up the fact they are in one.
I am surprised though that MB dont have a red/black start button in the AMG lineup. They could easily flog them off for $200 as an accessory when building a car.
