Cold Wet Clutch Observation
So as I mentioned in a prior thread, my 2011 E63 seems very sluggish for the first few minutes in the mornings. Like the clutch is not fully engaging. A few folks said this is normal which at least eases my worry.
However, I did try an experiment the last couple of days. Sort of an A-B-A test:
A - check engagement when cold while in C mode - result: sluggish
B - check engagement when cold while in S+ mode - result: fairly normal
A - back to cold and C mode - result: sluggish
It appears the clutch is not getting enough pressure in C mode while cold and when it is in S+ mode the pressure on the clutch is raised enough to overcome the cold start.
Anybody else experience this?
Thanks in Advance

My cars manifestation of this is that when I'm backing out of garage with cold engine and my drive has a slight decline, when I shift into drive from reverse while in C, the car continues to roll back until I give a little more throttle ... Almost like feathering a clutch in manual trans
When warm this doesn't happen in C, and warm or cold in S, this doesn't happen

The car takes off in 2nd gear in C mode ! This totally explains why the issue is so pronounced in C mode and not in other modes.
I recommend you put car in S or higher when you back out while it is still cold. Switch back to C after a few minutes. Problem wont really be detectable then.

Thanks for the update. During my purchase of my AMG. The service manager told me because my is a Bi turbo, always warm up your car which is fine with me since I smoke, it gives me a smoke break in the morning before taking the baby to school. That is why I couldn't answer the original thread because I've never experienced it.
I would do the same with a NA V8 just because it wouldn't hurt it.
Just a suggestion.
