2011 E63 vs 2012 E63
i know the 2012 has the new TT engine but it's also about 15k more on the used market than a 2011
if comparing identical cars. Is the 2012 that much better overall at buy of 59k vs a 2011 at $44k
thx

First let me declare that I recently purchased a fully loaded 2011 for $47k with 30k miles on it and 3 months left on factory warranty.
It is really this simple I believe:
If you never intend on getting significant gains via aftermarket tuning then the 2011 is a reasonable choice. Without question.
However, if you have aspirations of tuning it to higher performance, you have many more cost effective options to tune the biturbo!
For example, at Renntech, for ~$3k you can upgrade the 2011 from base 518 hp 465 ft-lb torque to 534 hp and 485 ft-lb torque. NOT very cost effective.
Now, on the 2012, for ~$2,500 you can go from 518hp to ~ 660 hp (going off memory, might be slightly different)
Point here is that when it comes to tuning you have many more options with the turbo than with NA.
hope this helps.
Once I install the sprintbooster the story changed. The throttle response is so much sharper and linear. Love the car now

The 6.2L M156 (518hp stock) can be OBDII tuned using a handheld device for a grand by a reputable tuner (eurocharged) and gain 30hp, adding headers cost $3000 and adds ~40hp. Weistec supercharger cost $15k and results in 770hp and 677ft/lb.
The M157 cost $3000k to tune (ECU must be removed and bench modified) but results in ~640hp and 700 ft/lbs. Weistec downpipes add 40hp and cost $4500. Turbo upgrade runs $8000+ and gives a car with 730hp.

Only thing I found for my 2011 was from RennTech that offers 16 hp for almost $3G. They send you the handheld to keep. And you can go back and forth between stock and tuned.
But 16hp for $3,000??? No thanks.
30hp for $1,000? Quite possibly. It would need to be reversible though.
