Revised 2016 Entertainment Stack Buttons

What is everyone's opinion of the revised entertainment stack buttons for 2016 models? I think it looks really cheap, like it should belong on a B class. 2015 model year ones were way nicer and premium looking.

I have to agree with you, while I like the use of the lower climate controls, the CD area does look lame, I used to not like the temp tabs, but got used to them, the dials in my cls are nice to use; easy

I am in agreement for a preference for the pre 16 head unit controls with the raised buttons and knob surround. The whole thing is dated, of course, and will benefit from the new update coming.

Yes
Oh wow, normally I prefer the newer stuff, but I don't like the flat front as much.

Still would buy it

While its hard to really get a real feeling without seing it in person, from that picture it make me like my 2014 better... not a fan of the new look... seems out of place...

Sorry not sure I agree. I have a 2016 E63 wagon and really like the interior design (including the entertainment stack). I did not really look at the previous design so I am not bothered that the buttons are more flattened than the previous design.

As long as it gets the infotainment to this era, I'm all for it.

Does it come with ntg 5.0? If so, 2016 is better. NTG 4.5 sucks.

I don't know, I think it gives more of cold feeling with the new ones, I like the look of my older controls better in my 2012. Just more of traditional feeling. Not that that the 2016's are bad, infact the high end Arcam home receivers look kinda like that, but just not a fan of that look.

Tactile touch via buttons are good when you are traveling so many feet per second.

Yes, these flat buttons found on the MY2016 cars have NTG5. The only noticeable difference, software wise that I know of, is that we finally have speed limit assist in the US.

Good news and worth a seperate post/thread, IMO, Peter. I thnk quite a few E owners would find interest in this, and its functionality. I'll be waiting to see what cable comes with my 2016, if any.

16 uses two USB plugs so there's no more proprietary MB plug.

My 2016 E63 wagon has two USB plugs in the centre bin so you can use your own cables (no cables supplied by MB). Much better for connecting IPod and phone.

Can we upgrade for a reasonable cost?

The twin usb plugs in my 16 work very well. You and passenger can both be plugged in and charging and bounce back and forth for media. It's nice.

Hopefully, in about a month, I'll be getting my 16. Until then, can one of you kind gentlemen who own a 16 tell me if you can share your mobile phone wifi with the command system, or does it only share the in car hotspot with devices in the car?
