Sorry to say, but no. AMG only have automatic transmission, unless you live in Germany ? Please have your dealer take a look. Something is wrong.

Paddles are the only way to shift gears. Unless you are talking about switching between park, nuetral, or reverse.
Gears? Paddles only.
My 2000 E55 also shifted with left and right movement of the console shifter. But it didnt have paddles.
Is there some issue I am unaware of with using the paddles? Personally, I prefer them.

Switching between parking/drive etc works fine. I was referring to the gears. I guess the paddles are the only way to shift. I do prefer to shift with paddles but it was nice having the option to switch with the shifter on the 07 E63.

I was wondering the same thing a few days ago. The electronic console shifter on our cars only tips fore and aft for R, N and D, but not left and right for gear changes.

We were always taught to drive with 2 hands on the wheel, and the paddles somewhat force us to do that.
Now if we had both options and some kind of toggle switch to only allow input from one or the other, that might be great!
Extra cost to MB though. Maybe offer it as an option.

That's a shame they stopped the side to side shifting. Although rare, there are instances where i will need to change gear while the steering wheel is turned. The shifter was great for this when the up paddle is in your lap... if you even know which one is up without taking your eyes off the road.

I completely agree. I too liked having the option of my 07 E63. I had a BMW 335I for a while and have to say the paddles made a lot more sense. They were both +- so basically if you pulled either one of them it would up shift and if you pushed either one it would down shift, made it much easier during turns.

It's funny because from brief reading i did on the Z4 forums they were trying to find ways to convert back to regular up/down paddles and BMW got rid of the double up paddle/down button system on the later years.
