2016 e63 wagon build thread
For those curious about timing: car was ordered April 20, build completed July 16, arrived in US July 31, and to dealer August 5th. 3.5 months or so in total, and that's with designo paint and interior...definitely took less time than I was expecting.
Excited to start driving it. Thanks to everyone on the forum who contributed thoughts along the way, and especially to sdg1871 who recommended his dealer to me. Apologies I didn't take many photos of the interior. Will add over the coming weeks
cheers

Karl: i'm contemplating a non-drill front plate that is offset and attached in tow hook. i never put a front plate on my last car, but i hardly ever park on street so that amounted to about 4 tickets in 5yrs. but i promised myself i'd be more "practical" with this car. i ordered the bracket, who knows if i'll actually put it on.
Peter: it had to sit on the street long enough for me to snap some photos. it's in the garage now...not that the conditions in nyc garages give me any peace of mind!!!

I'm currently working with a fabricator to make a spring loaded clip on front plate solution so that a. I have a front plate b. It's more centered c. It removes within a few seconds. I had the same situation fabbed for my R-Class and it's been great the last three years.
What mods do you have planned for it? You can see some of the stuff I've done to mine so far here:

If you get that front plate clip solution made up and you like it, post some pictures and i very well may follow you down that route. for now I ordered the tow hook bracket from "cravenspeed," but i agree centered would be preferable aesthetically to offset.
as for other mods, i'm likely going to take it easy with this car. i promised myself after my last car that i wouldn't get sucked down the mod rabbit hole. we have a 60lb dog so i'm looking into crate options that can be secured in the cargo area, but that's about it (gunner kennel seems like a solid option).
one question about your luggage dividers in the cargo area: in the owner's manual, I was reading about the luggage dividers and a load sill protector being located in the "easy-pack cargo compartment" -- does that stuff come standard in the car or does one have to order it?

I'll keep you updated on the front plate. I'm currently working with a welder who is very busy so it's a work in progress.
The load sill protector is an MB accessory that hides under the carpeted floor and you need to manually extend it when you want to use it. Instead of that I've bought an aftermarket rear sill plate that sits on top of the bumper and have also wrapped the rear bumper in Xpel Paint Protection Film.
