Had my 14 E63 Weistec tuned............and WOW!!
Hey guys,
Had the beast tuned by Weistec, all i have to say is wow what a great company they are!! Rod and Zach over there took great care of me, and let me know if any of you want to tune with them ill tell them you're coming! Anyway, the car feels stronger in every gear now, they say i should be pushing a little over 700hp to the crank which is crazy!!
0-60 feels a bit quicker but where i feel the power most from a roll at like 50 or 60!! The car is an animal up top, got on it on the highway and it hit 150 like it was nothing!! Got the plugs done as well, next they are sending me new air filters. Not to bash renntech but ive talked to several people with their tune and the one guy told me he literally couldnt feel a difference between stock and the tune after he got his ECU back, i assume that has to do with humidity since he's in texas, but would that make the car feel completely stock????

My car has the Renntech full tune and there is a tremendous difference in performance from stock. It crushed car after car in July at Slipstream's roll races at Pocono Raceway including, 2 of 3 runs, my 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S. No idea what happened to the person who know who got it and felt nothing. To me it is a night and day difference.

Very nice car.. I can tell you those stories are few and far between with Renntech and really up to someones opinion. My car is Renntech tuned I just posted a race vs a GTR in the 218 CLS63 forum. Held strong.. Wonder if you'll get used to the power and be adding downpipes soon haha.. Im almost at that point.

i mean even if you shaved a full second off your 1/4 mile time.. (which isnt likely) that still wouldnt be "night and day" difference would it?
"night and day" difference for me would be like going from say a BMW 740i to a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.

i would encourage people to actually do some legitimate testing after these tunes and not just go by the "feeling" that you are faster. it could just be a placebo effect.? lol

hmmmm thats odd^^ who'd you use! I felt a night and day difference with mine, with weistec the shifting feels slightly faster (you loose the exhaust "pop" in S+) and the acceleration is brutal lol so awesome!! like i said i feel a little bit of a difference in 0-60, but really notice the power from a roll at low and high speeds!

that person wasnt the only one who felt no difference after a tune. i too had mine tuned, (not renntech) and felt no difference in terms of power improvement or speed after i got the ecu back. all i noticed was the car was a little more "jumpy" particularly on downshifts... but if anything this was a negative not a positive. also tested in 1/4 mile and 60-130. no faster than before.

a second off 1/4 mile time is night and day in my book . maybe if you were a 16 sec 1/4 car that went to 15 not that big but cars like ours that would go from 11.5 to 10.5 that's night and day

anyway i was just making a point. i tested my car before and after and 1/4 mile times and speeds are the same. which for the advertised gains of these tunes is puzzling to me.
i wish some people would report back on their own actual tests on before and after their tunes. not just reporting the seat of the pants effect...
anyway in the next few weeks ill be doing a new tune with turbo pipes/catless downpipes and will hopefully see something then.
will report again.

^^ hmm thats strange, i was running around traveling and didnt have time to do before and after runs, i dont even know where i could i do that in pittsburgh haha but i did find out last night that temp affects everything, so i dont know what time of day you did the run but maybe that affected the tune??? not sure but looking forward to your reaction after the turbo and downpipes!!

Yes if you get a good tune its a NIGHT AND DAY difference. I had my 2012 tuned by Eurocharged here in Houston. On a freeway roll in 90+ degree weather my rear wheels will search for traction and the rear end will wiggle like a girl on the dance floor. How many can say that the stock 550hp rigs does that? It made 600 whp and over 789 Ft-lbs AT THE WHEELS in a heat soaked 100+ degree day here in Houston with stock everything else (no down pipes and stock filters). Now if you subscribe to the 20% drivetrain loss bit (thats another debate), thats more than 700 hp and 900 Ft-lbs at the flywheel. If you can't feel your tune, send it to someone else. Ive had my share of BIG horsepower cars (>1K rwhp) and my tuned E63 is easily my favorite just on its sheer drivability and borderline insane power.

We actually have a private dragstrip rental day at Atco in New Jersey on October 7. 20 cars Max. All Gernan super sedans and Porsche Turbos. If you are interested let me know and you can run your stock E63 against numerous tuned ones. Tuned E63 S and CLS63 S cars from Renntech, AMS and Weistec will be there.
We have coming among others:
My Renntech full tuned and sport mufflers E63 S
An AMS tuned with straight pipes E63 S
A RWD Weistec turbo upgrade CLS63 with catless DPs and ice trunk tank
An AWD Weistec turbo upgrade CLS63 S with catless DPs and ice trunk tank
The fastest F10 M5 in the NYC area -- with Aquamist water/meth injection and catless DPs and intake
The fastest RS7 in the country -- with APR tune and Miltek catless DPs exhaust tuned only for MS109 race gas
My 2014 GIAC Stage 3 Porsche 991 Turbo S with Champion intercoolers
Several Cobb tuned 991 Turbo S cars
A 997.2 Turbo S with the 9 second kit from Champion Motorsports including Water/meth injection and upgraded Champion intercoolers
There, you can test your theory that a tune makes no difference from an untuned one. We are limiting the event to 20 cars and each car pays $200 -- the pro rata share of the $4000 track rental fee. With so few cars you can take as many runs as your heart desires.
We are not racing for money or pink slips. Just for fun. And for the best times which Atco with its super low DA and the cool fall air should provide.
If interested PM me.
