Rotor Rust

Hey Guys. What is the best way to get rid of rust from your rotors? Is there something you can buy and spray it on and then wipe off? How can you prevent rust? Many thanks.

Drive the car around the block and the rust will be gone. It's normal and nothing to worry about.

I suspect you are probably referring to the middle part of the rotor (hub) and not the actual rotor itself. I noticed the rust on the hub myself and purchased Griots Garage rust removal gel (spray on and rinse off with water). The gel didn't do squat for me. I'm going to most likely paint the hub with high temperature paint when I paint my calipers.

Sorry, but I was referring to the rotors itself.

As noted, simply drive and the pads immediately scrub the rust off the rotor. The rotors are iron, so they will rust and there is no way or need to prevent surface rust from forming.

I will just agree that the Griot's Rust Removal is a waste of money. I, too, have rust on the hub and have been living with it.

You can always paint the hub black if it bothers you that much.

I managed to get a wire brush and do around the inside of the Rotor and then paint it with high temp gray paint on all the wheels, the color is similar to the Palladium gray and glossy and it looks great now, did that when I first got my car 2.5 years ago as there was rust there, it seems to be holding up great. I'm surprised they don't paint this better at the factory.
