Got a package from Tirerack:

Pirelli Sottozeros and these wheels in 19x8.5 and 19x9.5

http://advantiwheel.com/current-wheels/bo-bello/

($222 and $234 per wheel)

Pretty bad vibration.

Went back to the dealer, they said the wheels were not balanced, so they rebalanced the wheels - however they tested the car afterwards and told me the vibration is still there, so they told me that probably there is something off with the aftermarket wheels.

Vibration is better but still there. So, now I got to figure out what to do - probably should get different wheels.

Anyone here has had a good experience with a staggered set of winter wheels and if so, what brand?

I had same issue when I had my Srt8 , that usually happens when they are redrilling to a different bolt pattern . The have to refund you the money .

Wow, so they may have sold me redrilled wheels without informing me???
I looked at the wheels when I got them, did not see anything suspicious.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Re-drilling to a different bolt pattern?!...That's just insane. I'm sticking with my Replika made wheels--oem fitting, hubcentric, and a perfect fit.

Well, had the dealer take off the tires from the aftermarket wheels and put them on my original brand wheels because I have to drive the car.

Called Tire Rack - they claim the wheels are not redrilled.
Told me to take them to a shop locally and have them do a bare rim runout (on my own expense) and if any of the wheels are defective they will replace them, otherwise - too bad for me.

Never buying wheels or tires on the internet again, that's for sure.

An update.

TireRack said the only way they will refund or replace the wheels if I have them tested at one of their "approved" shops at my expense.
Took them to a local tire shop. They checked them out. Two of the wheels have dents in them that put them completely off balance. What the shop owner told me is that he thinks these are cheap wheels that get dented extremely easy because the tire is so thin. I guess I'll see what Tirerack says.

In the meantime, is it in any way possible to put at least 18 inch wheels on the car?

My understanding is 18s will not fit in front.

For what it's worth, I got the TSWs (as recommended by other members here) with the same tires you have and it fits like a charm.

Previous owner had OEM AMG wheels in stock size (9" front 9.5" rear) but put square 255 35 19 all round. Really stretches out the 255 on the 9.5 inch rear wheel. Does anyone else have this? It doesn't look very good, the wheels have bad curb rash because there is no rubber outside the wheel, but more so wondering about performance of the tire because it is so stretched out on the wheel. I have been debating replacing the rears with 285's but the tires are still close to new. Tires are winter Michelin Alpins, thoughts?

Sorry to bump a 3+year old thread, but I found this while searching for snow tires options for the 2014 E63s wagon I'm purchasing. I live in MN and I'm a big believer in proper snow tires and equip our household vehicles with Nokians, most recently the Hakka R2's.After reading this thread I was prepared to go the square 255/35/19 route on the stock wheels, but when I called tiresbyweb they pointed out that the big heavy brute E63s wagon will exceed the load rating of the tires by 100lbs per side in the rear. I called Nokian USA and asked to get their technical opinion if there was enough conservatism in the tire specs to be ok, but they rather quickly told me "no". I'm not sure I received an answer from an engineer, rather a canned external response. I have an email into Nokian's headquarters/main office asking for the same clarity, hopefully they will reply. To the guys running 255/35/19 Nokian Hakka (either R2 or 8's) I assume you haven't blown out a tire in the rear?

No issues here. I'm running the Hakka 8. Unless you are planning on packing up the car to it's max load and push the car to it's limits, I wouldn't worry about it. MB does permit the use of square 255 winters.

Third Quebec winter here on square set of 255 Hakka 8.
Great tire to go through the bad stuff, lots of snow, ice, we have it bad but the Hakkas are the best tire you can use for the winter.

Nokian corporate responded to me that the 255/35/19 will work fine. Thanks for the replies to this thread also!

I purchased the Pirelli winter tires in the original tire size and mounted on stock wheels. No issues driving in snow and ice at near zero temps. I bought HRE flow formed wheels for summer tires in 19x9 and 19x9.5. The factory wheels can handle the road conditions without bending most of the time. Cast wheels are going to bend.

why in the world would you chance running up against load rating specs? Tire Rack and MBUSA were both very clear that an XL tire was needed. I'm running a square set up with Mich Alpin's and they have been excellent. Note that TR's search function does not give you all the options. Best to call. I've worked with Damon for years on lots of cars and he totally gets it.

Though not expressed, the Nokian tires he is referring to are in fact XL load. His query was more to that the rear tires on OE tires are rated at 98 XL (1653 lb) while the fronts and the Nokian tires (as well as your Michelin I believe) are 96 XL (1565 lb). He did his due diligence to determine if the total max load difference of 172 lb was of concern. You are running the same tire specs (presumably) as he is looking to go with.

Thanks Martin, yes I did run them with no problems last winter and like I said, the response from Nokian's corporate engineering and tech support put my mind at ease.
