Coding headlights to euro spec?

Anyway to code the headlights on these cars to "rest of world"(in Audi/vw terms) or European mode to remove the orange corner markers in the headlights?

Looking into this as well. I'm trying to take it a step further and retrofit the European headlight units in general (removes the orange reflector and LEDs all together) and I believe has a slightly different beam pattern.

Could tap resistors onto the bulb wires, then remove the side bulbs.

Coming from the AUDI world VAGCOM was very convenient, wondering if something similar exists for MB cars?

Try using DAS hardware and setting central gateway to 'rest of world'. Not sure if that's the correct place to go, but that's how you do it on W211.

hahaha, NO merc doesnt like people messing in their software...

I too came from audi world and vagcom / lemi-tweeks were great, but sadly MB is definitely less tuner/user-friendly

MB is VERY tuner friendly. I have done so much changes on the W211 platform with my STAR system its not even funny.
I do have the software for the W212 on my DAS, just never tried it. I will over the weekend and report what I find

that's not "tuning".... we are talking about different things.. you are talking about resetting airmatic and doing adaptations after replacing something

tuning would be more like,on the e55 w211, try to get past MAP readings of 18+ psi and see if the ecu doesnt cut fuel and then tune in a work around

please tell us m157 guys how to turn off the low rpm torque limiting that MB has hidden in the code somewhere.... GAD in germany still hasnt figured it out on their 1100+hp e63 so im guessing its not in star

one example of how much easier Audi/VW is to tune, You can actually read and write ME7 ECUs with a cheap vagcom cable.... there is no such similar cheap tool for mercedes guys

The torque limiting is probably in the TCU, and as far as I know nobody has cracked that yet.

correct, nobody has cracked it yet, or at least not publicly....TCU uses sensors from car and data provided by the ECU to calculate how and when to shift, so you would need to crack both i think

that's main thing keeping the m157 from really cracking under 1.7 sec 0-60ft times

You are right, I mis-spoke.

I did mean user friendly enough. Yes minor changes in software configuration. I even set my E55 AC to have recirculation at any speed under 30km/hr and fresh air above that. I changed from air suspension to steel and converted the car to coilovers with no error messages, etc etc
In the case that the OP was asking about, if the STAR software for the W212 chassis is up to date, a lot of this can be done

W212 era Benzes are a completely different ballgame than the W211 era. W211 you can do all of the coding at home from your own computer. W212 and newer are all SCN coded which ties into servers in Germany at the dealer. So a lot of the reprogramming we want to do like simply switching a few things to "Rest of World" requires overwriting the code that Germany is sending back to us at the dealer through SCN which is simply not possible. Like I said, I'm working on something to see if we can avoid SCN so that I can switch some stuff to "Rest of World." Will report once I tinker around some more.
