Is it a downshift clunk or up shifting Was the car driving well for a while and then recently started doing this? How many miles on the car? May be a bad valve body or clutch pack |
It only does it in the beginning and the u can see the rpm go up and down

|
mine does the same thing, and the dealer has not answer... I guess all do that :)

How many miles on the car
When did this start Was it ever smooth shifting Anything else not right about the car and its drivability Are the first owner? |
in my case since I took the car out of the dealership. I have 4k now and although some software upgrades fixed some glitches the transmission still jerks and lags. Probably the worse drive of all my performance cars including a Morgan as old as me.
My girlfriend can start and shift my F458 smother than the AMG...pretty bad. Placed a complaint with MBUSA and pretty much got blown off. About to pull the plug and buy another brand. |

software update did not do it for me...and the car is 2015. To be honest I just do not get it how MB can get away with all these issues.
What year is yours? |
Damn mine it's a 2011 last year of 6.2s
I hope it's not a torque converter... |
There is no torque converter, BTW
My 10' has done it since day one, and have been looked at and reset more than once. |

Right you could have a vacuum leak. Any CEL codes thrown?
The fact you have rough idle (rpm going up and down) is a sign of probable leak (common on M156 engines). Could be dirty MAFs also. Try clean them. I don't think it is a transmission issue. |
I'm going to guess valve body

Just re read your first post
Totally normal in s mode? That would rule out valve body and clutch packs I would think Let us know please what they come up with as this will help someone else in the future |

For what it's worth, I'll chime in too.
My car does this. Took it to Eurocharged UK (very nice people there btw) and they diagnosed the solenoids to be at fault. Not majorly, but one in particular wasn't putting out the correct pressure or something. Anyway, they replaced all 8 solenoids in the transmission and..... ...it still does it. I find it particularly annoying because it's most noticeable on the 2nd-3rd upshift and the 3rd-2nd downshift. It also does it a little on the 3rd-4th upshift. It used to be really really bad going down into 1st gear, but now it's a lot better, although sometimes it still does do it, but just not that badly. All references to upshifts and downshifts above are in C or S mode, not M. I'm told it will adapt and improve through time (I don't buy that) but I've also been told that it's just a characteristic of this transmission...which I kinda don't buy either, because I'm sure Mercedes would have a hard time justifying this jerk to new car buyers on test drives. |
