So went on a trip yesterday and my dash went red and popped up a battery logo? Guessing the battery is bad. Sticker on battery claims it hasn't been changed in over two years, may be time for a new one. Still cranks fine, but today my COMAND went out until I turned it off and turned it back on. How do I go about changing the battery out?

Your battery should be in the trunk.... hum actually on the E63 I don't remember if it is under the hood or the trunk. Either way locate it and replace it with an equivalent. I would recommend OEM. But I guess any good aftermarket would do. A good battery should last close to 5 years depending on the car usage. GL

So. Main battery was tested, and alternator tested. Alt putting out a solid 14.7. Battery, around 12.4. There is a 60AMP drain somewhere in the system. Aux battery has never been replaced.... could it possibly be draining the rest of the system?

It could be. What is the voltage of the AUX battery disconnected from the car?

yeah, my bad
such a strange problem, hard to diagnose too. glad that i have another vehicle to drive.... just sucks i've barely had the damn thing a month and this happens.
So overview of what has happened
-2 nights ago, red battery indicator on dash. No loss of features. No problems starting
-Yesterday morning, cranked fine, drove ten minutes or so, then the COMAND went out.
-Last night, tested voltage with car sitting since that morning. when i first touched the multimeter to it, it came up 11.6, and slowly rised to 12.4 or so. Cranked the car, and it started no problem, with 14.7. But after a few minutes, it dropped to 11.8. Slightly charged the battery this morning and it cranked right up. Battery indicator still on, but COMAND did not go out this time

From the manual. The battery light means it is not charging. You have a charging system problem. Your batteries May be bad as well. But that would not cause these symtoms.

Ok, so I charged the battery up and went riding around after accessing the service menu, or whatever it's called. Before starting the vehicle, I was at 11.8v. Went riding and here the video. It's strange, seems to stick in the 12's when in the throttle and bump up to 14.8 when coasting, occasionally sitting in between. When I pulled up at home, it sat around 12.5 for a while, then gradually dropped to 12, then 11.8 again

Yeah according to my menu, whenever I turn the car off it drops to 12.4, then gradually works its way down to around 11.7 or so.
I'm going to get a new OEM battery and see what happens... Fingers crossed. I appreciate you checking yours out and seeing how a normal one should act
