then the revised stock system is fine... these are not M133k's with inadequate cooling that suffer from heat soak
if your still really worried, install a meth kit and call it a day.

this is the W212 (M157) forum, you should try the W211(m113k) forum as they have a lot more traffic any ways and this has been discussed a million times over there as i used to have M113K

I get that, and I've read thru most of the threads, this thread started off about the stand alone killer chiller. That's what I'm posting about, it could be used with anything using forced induction, no need to be territorial.

lol ok bro whatever you read thru most of the m113k threads but only posted in the thread on the M157 forum, i mean e55 has only been out since 2003 and almost running in the 9's so pretty sure they got the M113k figured out better over there than here.... from KC, homemade intercooler,SLR intercoolers, running nitrous rings on the H/E, ice boxs, meth injection, etc.... M113k guys have been over-boosting the crap out of the blower and been able to keep IAT's in check... but go ahead and re-invent the wheel even though as others have mentioned KC does a good job especially if you are not drag racing as you indicated...
with 14 post and almost all of them in this thread, seems you have an axe to grind with the M113k cooling system on the M157 forum but havent posted on the M113k cooling/KC threads yet, which seems odd since they would be the experts
here's a way more informed discussion on IAT's for e55 than you will get here, but as many on here have mentioned KC or meth is the best general solution. the intercooler is the main problem on the M113k

The sheer volume of coolant that a 5-7 gallon ice box would add greatly helps the cooling, even without ice in it.

I've been doing some research on this killer chiller, the cooling device he is using is a flat plate heat exchanger and they can be bought for less then $100, hoses and fittings would be around another $100. The basic kit can be done for $200 and your own time putting it together. Electric ac compressors are out there for $100-$500, would need a dc to dc converter from 12v to whatever voltage the compressor is you go with, those are dirt cheap. You Col pick up an evaporator and a condensor from a u pull it scrap yard for $50. So basically you could build your own stand alone unit for anywhere from $500-$1000. That's a little better then the $2500 the guy is asking for his kit ready to go. I think I will use the $1500+ I'm gonna save on a throttle body and pulleys.

If anyone knows of a 200 amp alternator that would be a simple swap let me know and I'd buy the "Stand-alone Kit". The "normal kit" (sharing the air con) gets the temperature down around 35 deg C and presumably the Stand-alone kit even more. Power developed relates to intake air density and thus temperature and the relationship is close to:
P_2=P_1 √(T_1/T_2 )
P_2 power after
P_1 power before
T_1 intake temp before in Kelvin
T_2 intake temp after in Kelvin
So if I can get my intake temps down from say 40 to 10 deg C which is quite plausable with the stand alone kit I'll gain 5% power and help avoid detonation etc.

Does anyone know what programming / delete that need be done with install the killer chiller ? running of the waterpump setting or something ?

There's no programming that is needed for the KC. Just keep your AC on constantly. I had one on my CL55 with Methanol and a trunk tank. Ran a 72mm fixed pulley. In the summer I would still get into the 120* temps on a 140mph pull but it started out very very nicely and but was inconsistent. Not to mention it blew out one of my AC o-rings when I turned the AC on at mid revs. That was more my fault than the systems though. Either way, for all the problems and constant recharges required of the system. I wouldn't do it over again, and I certainly wouldn't do it on an M157 with the already split cooling. Our stock turbos don't cause heat soak unless you WOT to 140+ twice in 5 minutes, random #s but still the systems pretty efficient. The oil systems so efficient that the car barely gets fully warmed up on cold winter mornings. For me, I'd more than likely do these (in this order) 1. High GPH Flowing Intercooler pump 2.Methanol, Pre-turbo 3. Additional heat exchanger for more capacity and cooling. 4. Additional reservoir to hold more cooled fluid. 5. A methanol or Alcohol sprayer on the heat exchanger.
That being said, if anyone is dying to try a Killer Chiller. I have a Generation 3 system that I removed from my CL and is just sitting in my basement. Will part with it for $600 shipped.
