weird , miss fires , tuned E63s

Hi guys , yesterday I saw first flashing check engine light , which is I'm not afraid of , the car is tuned 2 month already or so , plugs still OEM plugs , gap is good question . so expected .
I raced hellcat

and car lost power , was all shaking , didn't reacted to the pedal , jumpy rpm .. I stopped to look at the codes , random multiple miss fires of course . I cleared the codes , the car got back to normal , I tried to push it hard , everything looks fine , so this is weird part . Here is the second question , ECU sees miss fires , goes to the limp mode , ignition , low boost etc , why in that case it felt like I blew the engine ? Any thoughts ? Thanks
ps hell cat was slower just by a little , before I lost the power

It's the OEM plugs I believe with everything I read. Get colder plugs and it should solve the problem.

Good luck.

haters crazy
If the car detects misfire it shuts down that cylinder until you restart the car. That's why it feels like you blew the motor because it's not running on all cylinders. If you're having misfires I would advise against racing until you sort the issue out. Do you have oem plugs or colder plugs?

i had similar issues.. end up being something else than plugs..

I would start with Plugs.. if the CEL comes back then take the car in.

I ended up replacing the plugs on my own with indie mechanic.. then took the car in for repair once the CEL returned.

After plugs.. dealer will replace coil pack on the cylinder that failed.. after that it will be the Injector.

Dealer flashed my car back to stock and off I went.. Problem solved.

My service Advisor has worked on past 2 AMG's since 2005.. all modded and he understands I do my homework. I never had any issues about mods. (*knock on wood), hope you can find similar results.

my dealer have no clue what tuned car is , I'd say I'll have to do it my self . now question : how often did you had CEL on or flashing ? because in my case it happened once and gone .

What tune was it that gave you the misfires.

Full WOT.

Once you turn off the engine the CEL may come back. But car runs normal but CEL still is displayed.

Try to back to back redline pulls. If it comes back after your plug replacement. Then you need to take it in to check coil packs.

Mine had two bad coils (1 and 8). I also replaced my plugs with stock gapped down to 0.022 and I have not had a single misfire since.

I went with stock cos Renntech et al are using boost levels similar to the AMG-S boost levels (not verified, just what I've been told) for 577HP which was actually more like 520-540rwhp stock. Renntech now recommends stock plugs. I compared a few plugs out on the market and stock was better every time

Fairbird, on your video seems the Hellcat was bearing down on you pretty hard as the race proceeded. Looks like you would have lost if this had gone on another 20mph, also the Hellcat sounds like it spun pretty bad at the beginning of the race

renntech tune boost levels are same as the amg-s levels (18.8psi), the renntech tune just holds it all the way to redline while the AMG-S starts tapering off down to 14.5 psi in the higher rpms

from what renntech told me when i was there is that anything much over 19psi on stock turbos starts to max out (ams said same thing on article over at boost addict)
