2013 E63 with p30
Hello guys, I have been going back and forth on a 13 e63 with the p30 package and lsd, and what appears to have most options. Asking price is about 48,500, car has 35k miles. Currently CPO and factory warranty until nov 16. What other options should look for. I really wanted blind spot detection I don't think this has it.
I just cannot make my mind up. This will be my daily driver I currently have lexus gs460. So not scared of winters or rear wheel drive, with winter tires the car is a beast. Just wondering if this is too much car for winter and might regret it. Love the fact the lexus is trouble free. I expect some routine maint etc, just don't want to get into headaches with such a powerful car. I am good with maint and upkeep so not afraid of spending money but don't want to throw it away.
Insurance also goes up by 200/yr.
I am thinking maybe the 2014 awd might be a better choice, but like the 2013 style and stance. Can you guys help me make up my mind.

how much does it snow where you live?
also the 2014 is going to be about ~$30K more, so if you dont really have to have the awd, you could use that $$ you save on the 2013 for a separate set of winter tires/rims and have a lot of $$ left over for when the warranty runs out plus if you prefer the look of the 2013 i would think the price difference would make it a no-brainer to go to the 2013 unless you live on some super snowy tristy mountain roads

This is an amg so it has the potential to be a headache car for sure, there will be niggles and while not any one a deal breaker it could drive you nuts over time
For most, the thrill of the car makes up in the end for the niggles
Also in comfort mode with winters this car is no different than any other rear wheel drive with traction control
The insurance is negligible I think at this price point ... It's $1000 more for five years of ownership
It's a huge leap though from a cush jap SUV that's trouble free to a rwd monster that's a Benz
You should be buying this car because you want a thrill each and every time you drive to work, and if you're not sure you want this car after you test drive it... Move on.

Go for it. For sure it wouldn't be as problem free as a Lexus, especially the LS. However, do remember that a few years of the GS were quite problematic and sub-par in quality as noted by ConsumerReports. As mentioned, the "thrill" outweighs the few niggles.
Mid-Indiana winter will certainly be no problems at all if you have a good set of winter tire. If you're still worrying about winter, go with a square set-up with X-Ice XI3 245/40-18 for max winter traction and for sure you'll be fine unless you're trying to go up ice covered steep hill at ski places. Yes, 18" will still fit the front up to 2013.

2016 G63 AMG
I would get a 2014, the power increase, the looks and the AWD are much better features IMO. Honestly when I am indecisive about buying a specific car it usually means I am not 100% sold and its not really what I want. That is me though and everyone is different, I am in FL, but I still like having AWD as we get some serious rain here, also love the fact that the car hooks up in any instance of flooring it, which I think is pretty awesome. To each their own though.
PS - worrying about insurance is like asking about MPG. Doesnt really matter when you are looking at these type vehicles IMO

OP,
I can tell you this much that- every time you'll start your car- you'll be happy you choose AMG unless ofcourse everytime you start it - you get a error on display lol
A performance car especially AMG - just has a different feeling to it.
If money is no problem -then wait a little bit for 2016 model lol I'm hearing good things about it-apparently it might even have
9 speed gearbox

2016 AMG S65, AMG GL63, 2012 AMG E63 With AMS Alpha 9 Package, Renntech 200 Catted Downpipes.
I think it's a trade off if you live where it snows often to go with the facelift AWD. I live in SoCal and have a 2012 RWD with P30 and LSD. I too like the preface E63 as well and the LSD helps me hold the car to the ground and can burn rubbers at will the the traction off.

I have had an M5 in MA and WA with winter tires and no issues, so I wouldn't worry about that.
That seems like a great deal for that car; am I wrong guys?
For 2014 you get AWD, small power bump, LED lights, 360o cameras, optional B&O BeoSound, and a cool Swiss clock. Maybe other stuff? The refresh looks different not necessarily better.
AWD drive will eāt mi/gal, top speed, and acceleration over 100 mi/h due to increased mass and friction. Might keep you from dying with 600 hp if you have a lead foot.
