Unfortunately the 2nd to 3rd gear shift on this car is just bad. Every car I test drove was like this, and the new one I just picked up from the factory 2 days ago also has that jerkiness. Too bad, because it detracts from an otherwise fantastic car.

When you say jurk, do you mean a harsh shift?

As people coming from a normal smooth standard none amg car would expect a transmission to shift?

M mode has the harshest shifts, its meant to feel sporty and shift fast
2ndly if the car is not warmed up right, then it might be more pronounced

its a sports car, its not meant to be buttery smooth

Very familiar with sporty automatics. It's not jerky in a sports car way like BMW DCT, Audi DSG, Porsche PDK and even when compared to the other 5 gear changes of the MCT in our cars. It's more of a clunk or hesitation.

My 2014 has buttery smooth up and downshifts with only the occasional more harsh palpable shifts when aggressively braking and the tranny is rapidly downshifting

Sometimes these early harsh shifting issues just disappear after about 1000 miles

I guess I've only driven new E63s. I look forward to having it go away.

Keeping in mind that my 2014 e550 didn't get better for 5000 miles and I had a total buyback on that from Mbusa

Then the replacement did it too and they bought that back as well

Since we're complaining about the trans, I will say that although this is an improvement over the 722.6 in the 55k cars, the lag time between the time you pull the paddle and the time it actually changes gears is no better...and maybe even worse! At wot you have to pull the paddle at 4K rpms to not hit the rev limiter...sad!

The lag time is always why I use S+ mode. I am to busy looking at the road and beating down the other car next to me to worry about flippy paddles.
