Hi all, new to MBWorld. Purchased this CPO pre-facelifted S212 recently. Loving it. Cross-shopped the sporty SUVs (Macan, SQ5, even CPO X5M) but came back to the wagon. Had an Audi A4 wagon way back in college (B6 Ultrasport) and loved everything about it for day-to-day driving.
I have an E46 M3 track/weekend car and find this E63 to be a much better partner for long-distance/highway driving. Straight-line acceleration is incredible and I love the M157 soundtrack. I can feel the heft in corners and frankly the steering feel and precision really trails the E46's hydraulic system but that's not a surprise and, perhaps most importantly, it's far better than the aforementioned, cross-shopped alternatives. For what I want it to do, the car's perfect.
I wanted a pre-facelift - prefer the front end aesthetics - and this was the time to strike for CPO. Extended the warranty into 2020. Happy to find one without polished wheels and w/ panoramic roof. Didn't want performance pkg (prefer silver calipers). Do wish it had Distronic. No mods planned other than blacking out the window, door and roof rail trim. Should ditch the front plate. I'll keep the front grille stock to go w/ badging. On to some pics from MDW in the Finger Lakes...

Looks great. We are on a road trip with our wagon now. Florida to northern Illinois for my 50th class reunion and to see my wife's brother. Great road trip car. It does use a lot of gas but that's ok with me. Enjoy your new toy.
