Arrow Connecting iPhone 6 to my 2010 E63 (Music)...

Just picked up my 2010 E63 last week, and it came with all of the associated cables including a USB adapter. I tried plugging in a white iPhone USB cable but the COMAND kept telling me "Device Incompatible." So, I then went to the boards (here) for some input and found out that I needed a lightning cable that mercedes sells, part no. A2228208700.

My issue is, I just received the cable and tried to plug my phone in and it still has the same problem.

Is there a COMAND software update that is needed to recognize my iPhone 6? I have 2014 maps in the car and everything else works fine.

Thank you in advance for any and all help with this!

My gut is your newer lightening based iphone was never tested with your model year / software level. Does your car have a aux in audio port? If so, you could win it by using the lightening cable for power and a audio cable for the audio. Not perfect, but it likely would solve a lot of your issues.

I agree with Bruce

The 2010 w212 comand doesn't support the latest iPhone

You can ask Benz if there is an update to your command

Bruce. Sounds like the 2010's don't support the new lightning driven devices. A shame. And yes, I have been driving around with the auxiliary hooked, I guess I'll stick with that.

Mercedes does not have an upgrade, unfortunately.

Thanks for the help guys! I'll keep this cable I just bought for charging purposes and for my next gen E class in a few years.

I assume the 2010 didn't have BT audio either? If not, you can consider a BT adapter for your car. It basically connects to the iphone wirelessly then transmits to car over FM. It's meant for people who want NO wires. Just a heads up.

I will try the bluetooth although Ive previously hated linking bluetooth to my cars simply because I hate call intervention to speaker while in the car, its unprofessional!

If you answer your iphone on the handset, it will pickup there. Should only play through car when you answer using car controls over BT.

As far as I know, there is no software update for 2010 model. I saw some of my friend iPhone 5 still working good on this. The latest iOS 9 not supported by 2010 E63. The solution is to transfer iPhone music to a USB and use it on the card.
