Help Request - 2010 E63 Comand Knob Removal

Does anyone have a write-up or link to a video showing how to remove the Comand Selector Module on a MY2010 E63? I have seen lots of information for the W204 and the non-AMG models but cannot find anything specific to my car.

Thanks in advance.

If/when you find a how-to on this, it will be certainly be appreciated.

I have a 2011 and mine was replaced by warranty, just barely. I actually had the car at the dealer getting the pano roof popping (infamous) fixed when mine quit. I picked up the car with one thing fixed and then on drive home realized that the knob was toast. on mine, everything worked except the rotary action. Took it back a week later and they did it.

FYI, I believe the failure issue with this module is excessive heat. Ever notice on hot summer day how hot it gets? almost can't touch it. Well, before I tinted all windows to dramatically lower interior heat in the summer. Hoping that this will keep my module from ever needing a replacement again. We will see.

Please do update us if you find a how-to or if you write one yourself!

Good luck

not exactly a 2010 w212 e63, but access is similar and i think it could be reverse engineered with help of this one as location of scroll knob on 2010 e63 is same i think

and here is a pic of the how to get to the screws that hold the scroll ball in ... just remove center console side pieces to access the internals

Has it gotten hot since the module was replaced? Maybe the module itself was already faulty because I don't recall mine getting hot at all.

Good point. Maybe it being on its way out was also causing it to get hot. However, it wouldn't explain why it would be VERY hot upon entering the car on a hot summer day. I tinted the windows with the really good ceramic stuff that dramatically lowers internal heat (by about 60% as I recall) at almost the same time as the new knob went in. It hasn't gotten as hot as the prior knob, but it is hard to say for sure why. If I had to bet on it though, my common sense would say it was the tinting.

But it is an interesting point you make.
