if your going to use them on the street daily then i would go with toyo proxies R888 as they will handle (turns) a lot better and while not great in the rain, definitely better than a drag radial... they will hook way better than street tires and a little less than drag radials....

if you are getting a second tire setup dedicated for dragstrip only then 285/295 size Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials on some CCW's should do the trick

What's the smallest rim that will clear the rear calipers on these cars? We used to run 16s on the W211s. 265s offered plenty of grip on those so 285, 295, 305, etc is just adding unnecessary unsprung weight.

17" will clear the rear if you cut the tabs off the back of the pads but the rim can't have a tapered barrel

I run a 20" 305 555R as an "everyday" tire on another car, and tbh, it's not a practical tire for a real everyday driver. While traction is a whole lot more consistent over a non-DR tire, you give up too much safety net when the weather is not ideal. Down pouring rain can be flat out ***-puckering above 50mph.

The MT SS will have same characteristics.

That said, if this is only a sunny day car, or just a drag setup, you'll love just about any DR, for 5k-9k miles, that is. MT SS gets high praises. I like the 555R as well.

I also run a 325 17" M&T Racemaster on the other car with Weld wheels. More of an extreme DR, but nice rolling up to the track with them already on and laying down some great times. Then driving home.
