Coolant Level Question

Been getting the "check coolant level" message in the dash off and on the last couple of days.

Checked it out this morning and the level is about 3/4 of an inch from the top of the clear portion of the overflow reservoir. It doesn't look like I would be able to add much more than a couple to a few ounces.

Does this sound right that the message should come up? Am I right on the ragged edge of the sensor?

I know for certain I don't have any leaks and I am not running any hotter than normal.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
Oh oh, hopefully it's not caused by the dreaded headbolts problem. Have you ever had your vin# checked by valvestud to see if you are in the affected group. As you know, some early '11 ones are still plagued with that problem.

Nope. It is definitely not that. Mine is a late 2011 and is after the problem. Also, with head bolt issue a lot more happens as a result. compression loss, performance loss, froth in the oil, smoke in exhaust, etc.

Like I mentioned, it appears to be so close to full that I don't see how it needs more.

Thanks Peter

Just such a tight window. Seems strange. Guessing that more than 6 ounces I am over filled. And yet leave it alone, The sensor goes off. Hmmm

Dont recall my E55 being that "touchy"

And it only gives message about once every other day. Not constant. Wondering if my sensor cable or connector might be dicey.

Anyway, thanks again. Hope all is well with you and your wonderful family!

Cheers.

It's always reassuring to know it's not the headbolts.
