Wagon come in

Right, there’s a couple. I’m also wrestling with spending $50k+ on an out of warranty ‘14 and the implications there, versus say a CPO s212, versus the bigger jump to a CPO s213.
Not quite sure what the right path there is. All things being equal I definitely want to take a s213 home but not at a 6 figure price point.

The CPO checklist of everything they go over and check is massive, so you get a very thoroughly vetted car. Plus I had them replace both batteries, put on new tires, new brake pads, dumped all fluids everywhere and replace (including brake fluid, trans, diffs, etc...), new wiper blades, filters, etc... and the car came with full Weathertech mats front, rear, cargo area, and full cargo area protection on sides and back of rear seats that previous owner purchased that I would have purchased had I bought a different car.
And the dealership was able to provide the entire service history from the factory computer records, to show that the car had no history of issues beyond normal service, and needing the aux battery replaced two years prior.
I know everyone has a different path forward that works for them, but I found the above to be the best of all worlds for me.

I\m with Jason and made a similar decision.
Two more reasons.
First., if you plan to keep your car more than a couple of years, it's always better getting a late versus an early build of any car. Esp in today's world, lots of the final shakedown testing is done by customers, not by the manufacturers. So buying a 15 or 16, you get one of the most reliable and developed cars of the 212 generation. If you buy an 18 of the 213 gen - you are now part of the development crew - which can be fun and exciting, but you pay a price for it.
Second, depreciation is not your friend on a 213. Esp not when the face lift comes next year (2021 model) and the new version two years after that. On a 15 / 16 the prior owner already took that hit when the 213 model came out. So in absolute numbers your depreciation loss is a fraction of what you will see for a 213.
On the other side - 213 is a newer car, have cooler whiz bang electronics and your neighbor is more impressed by an 18 versus and "old" 16.... Depending on neighborhood and your personal situation (read spouse/partner) - that matters!
And let's be honest - neither of these cars (212/213) are "smart" buys from a depreciation standpoint!
For me, a '16 with 4 years of warranty was the perfect solution (sounds like Jason and I got a sim deal).

I have a G550 (2019) build on order and am switching to a 2019 E63 Wagon. There's just too many issues with the new version of the G, from Forum Members and buyers I know. Not sure if that'll hold true when the new wagon comes out. I'd buy a used one if I could find a good deal but a 2018 I see runs $105K and has 18,000 miles. For a new car that I plan on keeping that's 15K more, I think I'll buy new. I don't know much about the wagons, especially the new version coming out. If it's 2021 or 2022, I don't want to wait that long. Any downside, other than deprecation, with the 2019's?

I was in a similar boat and opted to pay a little more for a 2016 CPO W212 and purchase factory extended warranty, which gave me four years of factory warranty from date of purchase two weeks ago. Had one year left on original warranty, got an additional year for CPO, and purchased two more years for a factory extended. So for less than $75k, bought a car that had literally every option in the un-common color I wanted and a sticker of $128k just three years prior, and have four years of factory warranty.

I am a week into ownership of my 2016 E63S wagon in graphite over red. Steel brakes, rear seat entertainment and all of the driver aids. I picked it up in Kentucky and drove it home to San Francisco. Incredible car, my second Mercedes and first AMG.
Bought CPO and I extended the warranty the maximum allowed.

Props on the Color Combo. A year ago I was hunting for a wagon in this combo. Finally realized it would be impossible to keep nice with my 150lb Newfoundland dog long term.. so opted for a 2016 Sedan in the same color combo and bought a TDI Sportwagen for the dog with the difference

Got home mid-day yesterday after being forced to overnight in Albuquerque due to this nasty weather system that rolled through. Raton Pass on summer performance tires was not my idea of a good time, but I kept speeds (way) down and was fine. Please excuse the dirt, it's filthy after ~1350 trouble-free miles.

Thanks. Going to strip off the Alpha stickers and go all dark on the badging - all just personal preference but I like the no-chrome look.

Long time Lurker, 1st time poster, it's an AMS Alpha9 build, which I don't even see listed on their site any longer.
AMS Alpha
I was looking at this one also and emailed the seller last week and he said someone else from Denver was coming out to pick it up last weekend. Congrats on the purchase Tremek ! maybe I'll see it on the streets of Denver sometime.
I hope to be in a W212 e63 Wagon soon, been looking a long time but have never seen one 'in the wild' until tonight. This one has been reduced a couple times over the last month and is now at NADA Retail or close to it, I drove it and definitely is everything I expected, PO traded it in on a Maserati, pretty good service history, 1 accident. Thoughts on this one ?

I would have it inspected by an independent shop in Denver, MB Clinic, possibly this Friday.

Hi MileHighMB, I drove the Mike Ward car a few weeks ago - scroll up / go back a page for thoughts on it. I don't think it's a great buy. For what it's worth I paid significantly less for the Alpha car.

Hey guys, great collection of wagons in here. I'm looking to join the fold - formerly had a CTS-V wagon so at least I have some legit wagon cred - and over the weekend here in Denver drove a grey '14 E63s wagon at Mike Ward Maserati/Mclaren.
Heads up for any of you looking at that car: it spent its first 4 years in Manhattan, it has un-repaired bumper damage from an accident on the right rear bumper, immediately above that is some shoddy/marbled paint repair from what I'm assuming is the same incident, the AC didn't work, it has an aftermarket wide Android touch screen in place of the original COMAND screen (I'm assuming for CarPlay etc) which is a debatable thing unto itself, and then the trim in it is this absolutely hideous bamboo which clashes with the black dash and dark brown seats. Just because you can configure something through designo does not mean you should.
Anyway, car had a number of red flags and to top it off they're asking way too much at nearly $62k for the car, so I left it for the next guy. FYI for anyone looking for a wagon!

The salesperson did send me the window sticker today, the original owner paid $2K for that Bamboo and Auburn Brown leather combo. I do think it looks better outside in natural light than in the pictures online.
He also said they recharged the A/C today and there were no leaks.
They have lowered the price now to to $59K but still $3K over NADA Retail. 4yr / 48K Fidelity Platinum warranty would be $6.1K which I thought was reasonable, probably could negotiate on that $ too.
I will keep searching, maybe go with a 2016 still under warranty as others have suggested.
Also, I see you are a iH8Mud member, we have similar interests in autos, I bought a 2014 LX570 last year and check the 200 series Mud forum daily.
