Mobil 1 0w40 and warranty

The dealer currently has me on 5w40 mb oil and was wondering if I asked for mobil 1 0w40 would that effect warranty?

No problem. 0W40 is also an AMG approved oil. Dealer may or may not have it in stock if they use the same type of oil in all of the cars...

Either viscosity complies with the MB spec. Your choice.

My dealer uses Mobil 1 5W40 exclusively.

Both are fine. Also depends on market - so in colder climates, 0W40 is recommended due to thinner viscosity getting up to lubricate parts quicker as opposed to a heavier weight oil.

Key is that the oil meets MB 229.50. 0W40 or 5W40 can be used. IMO, 0W is a superior grade. Especially in the cold, but also in moderate temps.
