Any way for a n00b like me to visually determine if I need new Rotors?

I noticed a squeaking from my rear pads and they are looking a little thin for sure.

My question is - can I just go go buy some EBC Reds and get em installed or should I be looking at full on new rotors? Can I determine this myself without taking the car to the shop (assuming I'm pretty amateur when it comes to wrenching)

Car only has 27k miles.

This was helpful...turns out...need a fancy brake rotor measurer. blah.

Ideally you'll wanna measure your rotor thickness and if still in safe spec, you can just get pads and re-bed the brakes and rotors

the rear pads go fast thanks to all the traction control even on the awd

@30k on my car I did pads only

Rotors were spec and new pads installed.
I also did fluid change, pressure was the unit and wheels.

Upon more research:

http://brakeperformance.com/inspecting-brake-rotors.php

I think this is what I was looking for. Might have to cruise over to O'reily to see if they have a brake rotor measuring tool

I'd be shocked if you need new rotors with only 27k miles on the car, unless you're hitting the road courses every other weekend. With your current mileage, I'd just slap new pads on and call it a day. Unless you're getting any kind of wobble/pulsing during braking. Then take the rotors in to O'Reilly and get them turned.
