They have no reinforcement on the outer side to keep them in proper place. As you will see in my pics they strictly rely on the copper or brass spring to hold them in place. I thought my brakes were worn because my light was on, so I bought all new pads and sensors.
Went to install them and discovered the OEM sensor had popped out of place (see pic) and had rubbed the rotor.
Then look at the pics of my aftermarket sensors I replaced with, they have a spring as well as being slotted to keep it from ever swinging into the rotor like my OEM one did. Paid a whole $7.50 for the pair of these aftermarket ones on Amazon.
Luckily I wanted to install lower dust pads anyway, or I would be pretty pissed about spending hundreds on new pads over a POS OEM sensor.

My trick for those sensors is to add a touch of silicon to keep them from moving around. The aftermarket do seem to iron out the simple problems..

No flaking, that's the angled run-in to the pad. Just like you see on the new pads that just aren't worn so it looks a little different.
How are the redstuffs? Had them on my Audi S4 Porsche Brembo calipers and they were nice aside from smelling like seafood. There is a review on amazon of the redstuffs on a 2012 CLS63 being too small and moving around in the calipers. This is the same brake setup as a W212 obviously.
I tried to buy a set of EBC Reds last week and was told that EBC does not have any sets for the rears in the USA, and that EBC in the UK has no ETA for when more will be delivered for the NA market.

I went with TRW and it fit perfectly, no noises and a little more initial bite than stock pads. Better yet no dust. Probably won't last but works great after several 160mph stops

The fronts are identical back to back, and fit tight.
The rears I forgot to compare size, but you can't really anyway because of the weighs on them. The rears do maybe have a slight bit of slack in them.
