New Wheel Set Up Advice

Hi All,

I am putting new alloys on my CLS63 (218) and whilst compared to the E63, the offsets are slightly different at the rear as standard (along with width), I think the fronts are the same.

With this in mind is anyone running 20x9.5 fronts and if so what offset please? Or even 19x9.5?

My OEM fronts are 19x9 with an ET37 offset which I currently have 10mm spacers fitted (255/35/19 tyres). So I was thinking 20x9.5 with an offset of ET35 would be fine? On the alloy / tyre calculator sites to check the difference, it states this set up will put the wheel closer to the suspension strut by 4.3mm than OEM, but would like to know if this would be an issue please?

I do have the option to buy the alloys as 20x9 or as 19x9.5, but the distributor has told me that the 9.5 width will give a more concave look to the alloy which is what I am after.

The rears are fine as 20x10.5 with an offset of ET42 or ET40. OEM is 19x10 with ET47 (I run 15mm spacers currently).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Jules

You will be fine with 19x9.5 at ET35. If you lower your car, depending on what tire size you go with you could rub on the fender though, but inner suspension clearance wise you're fine.

Really appreciate the advice. I am currently lowered on H&R front springs and would say there is still a 25mm gap. I can stick with the OEM tyre sizes on the 19x9.5 rim (255/35/19) or go for 265/35/19. I think the 265's will help fill the arch gap a touch and wondered if the 255 on a 9.5 width rim may look stretched?

Cheers Jules

255 on a 9.5 will be a little stretched but nothing crazy, it's safe to do. Also some brand of tires will look more stretched than others at same size. If you're looking for a square sidewall, and don't want any stretch you could do 265.
