extended warranty
Hi I'm in the market for a used E63. Currently looking at a 2013 e63 with 25k miles, factory warranty until nov 2017. It has the 19' wheels, LSD, disctronic, and park assist, and the standard options. They're asking just under $54k. I'd like to get an extended warranty and the one they offer is through American Guardian and it's called Compass. The extended warranty is an additional $4500 and is the platinum coverage which is an exclusionary policy. Just curious if anyone has any experience with them. Also any thoughts on the price? I'm out in southern CA if that means anything. Thanks in advance.

Would be interesting to see if you all "qualified".
I would consider at 4500, but I don't think I drive enough to make it worth it.

Get the VIN of the car and shop the Mercedes Ext. warranty at 6 to 8 dealers. I think this forum has a thread regarding dealers that sell it for less.

I've got my blank check loan through Penfed and they offer extended warranties through them tacked onto the financing. It's really cheap but I've still gotta look through all of the fine print. The provider is Route 66.

I bought my car out of state. When I looked into a warranty my local dealer told me I didn't qualify either and had to go with a 3rd party that they sold. Then I got a call from them that to their surprise their companies wouldn't cover the E63 but they had convinced MB to to offer me the factory warranty. Long story short they lied. I bought the factory warranty from a dealership in CA. They didn't have to convince MB of anything and it was $3,500 cheaper than the local dealer for the same policy. I'm sure glad I bought it. MB paid out over $12 grand in repair costs. Buy the warranty it will help you sleep at night and you won't have a heart attack every time it makes a strange noise or has a hiccup in the electronics.

What did you end paying for your warranty? Was your car still under th factory warranty when you bought it? Can you share what dealership you got the warranty from? Thanks.

Go to the extended warranty discussion and call the usual 5 suspects mentioned there.
My preference is Jeff Jackson (fast response, he had the best price for the cars I inquired on), but all the others frequently mentioned seem to treat us folks right as well.

You guys talk about dealers making profit as if it was a deadly sin.
I am sure that all of us here make money doing a job we expect to get paid for...
take a step back and check out your Monclair jackets or anything else you buy and tell me what is the profit margin from it that you paid without asking questions.
next time you stop somewhere for gas and buy a bottle of water or gum think about the fact a convenience store makes a minimum 35% profit margin.

I try to be fair as I work at MB but drive Audi until my E63S AMG Wagon comes in in the fall.
when I bought my other cars from other places I've always been fair as I know the energy it takes to get a car delivered to someone.

Buying cars is a dance. They know how much they have to make, but they are going to try and get as much as they can. That's not a problem. I know what the car is worth to me and if we can reach an agreement that is fine. They have their tricks and I have mine each in an effort to get the best deal. I'm pretty good at it, I have even been banned from a dealership because they accused me of taking advantage of their salesman.
