Haha that's the same sentiment when I set out to buy an e63 wagon. 😂
Thanks everyone for their kind words. Fwiw the car comes apart pretty easily

Nice work. I did the radar/laser install myself on my wagon and know that this is far from easy. But why K40 RL360i? There is far better radar/laser defense available.

I have installed escort bel and I prefer the k40. On road comparison is Very comparable but customer support for k40 is far better. The new update also already protects against dragon eye.

What areas did you find deficient with your 360?

I use Beltronics STiR Plus with 5 ALP laser heads. Don't want to mess up your build thread with a radar/laser discussion. If you are interested in my opinion shoot me a PM.

W212 - E63 AMG
Sweet Jesus, probably the best thread in the W212 forum - somebody actually doing something besides a tune and dyno run

The attention to detail and the level of craftsmanship to make this look as tidy as it does....damn.....hats off to you man. This took an insane amount of time to accomplish...well done

Apologies for bumping the OT but I would love to see a discussion of pros/cons and real world experiences with these, considering for our new (to us) 2016 CPO E63S4 wagon. I probably need it.

Hi Cemeek, I have replied to your PM. As far as a discussion of pros/cons, if you are still interested, it may be a good idea to start a new thread.

Those pillars....obviously the whole install is worthy of a magazine spread.

Top notch work. I don't even want to know haw many hours were invested in it. That post alone must have taken a day.

Great contribution!

Absolutely astonishing build, OP. Congratulations on a gorgeous E63 inside and out. I wish I could hear the system!

Did you find that your acoustic treatment in the trunk and doors made a significant difference in road and cabin noise? Or do you not notice over the system?

The type of sound proofing I did to my car isn't really about blocking noise. For that we do a 3 layer process that starts with the CLD damper u see me use (dynamat like material), then a layer of foam and then most importantly, mass loaded vinyl (mlv). I didn't want to do that to my car or add another 150lbs haha

The stuff I did mostly help with resonance and rattles.

Thanks for the information. Looks like the multilayer with MLV blocking layer is what I am going to need to do if I want to reduce road noise significantly in my W212.

@bing_0 , as you worked in the W212 doors and sounds like you have lots of experience installing acoustical treatments, do you think there is room in the doors for the three layer MLV sound blocking sandwich? Thanks very much for your advice.

Congrats on beautiful car, excellent work and amazingly flawless execution!

I'd like to know how your K40 system is working out. I installed an Escort Max 360ci system on my W212 sedan. The front radar head was mounted in the same place you mounted yours and the range seems dismal compared to my old, windshield-mounted V1. I recently relocated it, mounting it on the 2 pre-existing holes of the top radiator brace and it seems to have improved, although I haven't had enough encounters yet to make a good comparison.
