2012 E550 coupe vs 2012 E63

I purchased a beautiful 2010 E350 coupe 5 months ago. Unfortunately someone hit me on the highway and caused a total loss of my vehicle. Hit me at about 80 on my driver side rear. I'm a true believer in Benz safety at this point. Insurance check is coming soon and I've been completely stumped on what to upgrade too. E coupe was a good experience. Only pet peeve I had was the car was a little undersized. I'm 6'2. Definitely wasn't enough power. Always found myself wanting more. It was my first car so pardon my bad decision making lol. Fell in love with the design and pillarless windows. I'm definitely going V8 this time around. But my friends tell me stay away from 2011 e63 seeing as it's naturally aspirated and the 2012 is bi turbo. Everyone says don't sell yourself short but the 2012 cls550 caught my eye as well. It being v8 twin turbo but missing the almighty AMG touch. I have a real conundrum on my hands. The 550's are a little cheaper with similar specs but AMG's are simply another level I hear. More mystique and handbuilt. I live in NYC where it's rare you get to really open up your car without a state trooper or blue and whites on your case. Inclement weather. Bad roads. Etc. I need some help guys ! If you were me what would you do?

Sorry about the lost of your E350 coupe, but glad everyone is okay. I would upgrade to the Biturbo E63 ( +2012 up ) instead of the E550 or the NA E63. No headbolt issue and more tuning option and it's faster.

The price difference is so crazy. I see 2012 e550 coupes bi turbo 20 - 28k on auto trader. 12 e63 is 33-44 ... would I be selling myself short getting the coupe even tho it is v8 bi turbo?

2013 E550, 2014 GLK 350
I have a 2013 E550. For a DD it is the perfect balance of everything. It's fast, plenty fast for a DD, is comfy, gets KILLER gas mileage considering its a big, fat TT V8 AWD car (way better than EPA rated), and the maintenance and warranty are WAY cheaper. I mean WAY cheaper.

I see more AMG's here where I am than E550's, so one could argue my car is a lot less common around here as well. People always ask me what the difference is.

But, if money weren't an object, I'd get the AMG. With a young family, who I also wouldn't want kicking the crap out of a nice AMG, the E550 was a no brainer for me.

You also might post in the W212 section. It's the AMG section, so of course, the AMG peeps will recommend the AMG

This^ 😂 I too was pretty much on the same fence. Was between E550 or E63S (2014). 550 would be MORE than enough for DD, would mind it less if the kids messed it up some and it would also be way cheaper. But, you live once. I chose the Uberholt Prestige badge 🤣

2006 E320 CDI 2014 C63 507 Coupe 2012 E550 4M 2016 E63s Wagon
I currently have an E550 sedan and an E63 wagon. Both are fast. The 63 is faster, louder, and attracts a lot more attention. The 550 is smoother, quieter, and flies under the radar. When I was in the market for a coupe I went with a C63 507 coupe which was amazing. The E coupe has a lot more in common with a C coupe than an E sedan. If you're only looking at coupes I'd definitely try a C63 coupe out.

I had a 2014 e550 and it was a dream minus the clunkly trans. If they had gotten that right I would be driving it to this day. It is smooth and quiet and a brutally powerful and quick sleeper sedan.
