Eco Start Stop Causes Engine Stall

I have a 2016 E63 Wagon and wonder if anyone has experienced a total engine stall when the Eco Start Stop feature is on. Over the last months when the Eco Start Stop function shuts the engine down when stopped, releasing the brake results in the engine stalling (i.e., shutting down). The solution is to shut the engine off and re-start it. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution (beyond shutting off the feature when you first start the car)? My wagon has been in the shop for 2 weeks waiting for a solution from AMG.

Never had this issue either, hope you get it figured out. You would think they'd have it fixed within two weeks though. Let us know what they find out.

Sorry to hear of your troubles... I never used it. I hate starting in second gear, and to date nobody has been able to convince me that this doesn't prematurely kill the starter. So every time I got in my car, I turned the dial to S+...

If I worried about gas efficiency, I'd get a Prius (and then shoot myself).

FWIW, my wife's LR4 auto start/stop feature stopped working altogether. Took it in for the 1yr service and then it worked for all of a week.

Good luck and just use the S+

Happened to me on an expressway when the Distronic stopped the car in traffic. I turn ECO off now.

Update - I got my car back today. Apparently over the time they had it they were told to replace the starter relay and transmission aux pump. The dealer tested it through 40 start/stop cycles and it functioned properly. Let's hope it is fixed. I agree that selecting Sport or Sport+ mode solves the issue but I hate having technology that doesn't work - particularly at the price we have paid. Anyway the smile is back on my face!
