M157 Oil Level Sensor accuracy?

So... I got the message in the dash to correct the oil level (add 1 Qt) but when I checked the dipstick when the car had been sitting for 1.5 hours it's right in the middle of the range. I'm leaning towards putting 1/2 Qt in just to get it to stop annoying me but has anyone else experienced the same?

Forget about dash errors .
always check physically your self but stick.
if your car was warm/hot and oil was in middle , better to add.

Thanks yeah, within reason it's better to be a little on the full side, common E30 M3 tip is to overfill by about a quart up to the "kink" in the dipstick if the vehicle sees action on the track.
