I can find a few but thought I'd ask to get a reference for someone who stocks this...want to try something different than Mobil One.

Diehard euro shop in PNW said if I wanted the best to go Joe Gibbs Driven DT40....spendy but doesn't look like many use this oil on here...

Is Motul the stuff that guys are saying prevents them from adding quarts too often between oil changes?

I believe just another nice synthetic option is all...whether or not it's better than Mobil 1 IDK? But I've always been a Joe Gibbs and Motul guy on my Audi's. Figured I'd give the Motul Sport 5w40 a shot

My MB dealership put Shell helix 0w 40 in my car. It certainly likes to drink oil. Do you guys recommend going to 5w 40 then?

Not true. This does not meet Mercedes specs. Stick with the Liqui Moly 5w40 Leichlauf

Ask liqui moly, it does. I've used it. Also ask FCPeuro.com, lifetime warranty on everything btw even oil.

Just out of curiosity, are you referring to 229.5?

As I said it does not have MB approval for 229.5
Just because a oil manufacturer recommends it doesn't mean it is the best product for the job. Marlboro recommends their cigarettes too, does that mean they won't harm anything?

Do your homework and use the proper stuff. You DO NOT want to be paying for internal engine repairs on one of these due to improper oils. As stated stick to the 5w40 leichlauf, which IS approved by Mercedes and is a far superior to 99% of other oils out there.

Yes. The leichlauf meets 229.5 which is what should be used in the M157 engine

Let me help you learn to read... This is direct from the Liqui Moly website page for Molygen 5w40. Clearly you didn't earn enough money to buy a Mercedes based on your reading comprehension.
No where does it say 229.5 approval, it says Liqui Moly recommends.....

There is a difference

This on the other hand is for Leichlauf 5w40, again directly from the Liqui Moly website. See the difference chief? One is approved and one is recommended. There IS a difference but I doubt you'll understand that

I asked this awhile ago but no one answered me. My MB dealership used Shell helix 0w40. All you guys are talking about is 5w40. The 0w40 is super thin oil and the car does use some oil. Should I carry on using the shell or go to a 5w40?

I'm in the US so Shell oils can be hard to source here. In my 19 years of Mercedes experience I've tried most of the major brands with MB approval. My opinion is Liqui Moly leichlauf 5w40 is the best I've found. It runs quieter, cleaner, and cooler. It also does not burn off like Mobil 1 does. Motul (forget the name currently) is a close 2nd. Mobil 1 is way at the bottom.

I own a Mercedes shop now and we almost exclusively use the Liqui Moly leichlauf, even though it costs me more than the others as I believe it is the best option for my customers vehicle longevity. I prefer the 5w40 over 0w40 in the climate we are in. For reference we use about 750L of oil per month

Molygen Next Generation actually doesn't have ANY approvals. Is it possible it's just so new they haven't added it yet? I'd find it strange they would start selling a product with no approvals by any car makers with no hope of obtaining them in the future? Would it be possible in say 6 months molygen next generation shows up on the MB approved list?

Anything is possible. Approval testing costs a substantial amount of money. If Liqui Moly had approval for a new oil I'm sure it would be a high priority to advertise it as such.
