Short drive - killing my car?
So I bought a nice 2015 E63p with 10k miles, all excited about driving to work every day (30 miles each way). But my office location changed, and I'll be taking the train from now on, meaning I drive the car 0.6 miles in the morning, and again in the evening (home->train station->home). These short trips barely allow the engine to warm up, definitely not the oil which stays "blue", and then the same thing happens all over again in the short evening trip back home. I do drive it longer in the weekends (any chance I get), but are these short trips killing my car? especially on cold winter mornings and nights? Thanks for your advice!

But then again, most people say "eff it", drive to station and enjoy the fruits of their labors. I hate riding my bike but cannot bring myself to relegate my AMG to "train car" status.
Cheers

Thanks 24Hours! I agree with the bike idea, but for several reasons that is not an option in my case. And I also agree with your hard time relegating the AMG to "train car" status, I totally feel the same way, but this was not bought for that purpose.. it's circumstances that are being forced on me. One alternative if to F the train and just drive it to work as originally planned, but I can't convince my self that this makes sense. Perhaps I should get a crappy train car, but that's a whole other adventure... anyway, thanks for sharing from experience, I appreciate the advice!

I take my E63 on short drives, long drives, leisurely drives at night and any other type of drive. I paid a lot of money and I own it. If it breaks, I'll moan, but then fix it.
OP don't worry too much...your car is still too new for you to worry about any long term effects that driving like this would eventually have on the car. And when it comes to the next owner, well....you haven't 'abused' it or tried to rip anybody off. Any used car buyer will have to accept some level of risk, especially on a high performance car.
