Looking for some knowledgeable input on increasing bass on the sound system. Hopefully no hacking just straight plug and play. Appreciate any and all help. Be safe.PMs please.

There’s a guy whose car is for sale on AT now who installed a better sub and I think some other stuff. Find the ad for a blue 2014 wagon for 76900.

Rick,
I have the HK in my 14 wagon. The easiest way to a good sounding bass with volume and punch is in my opinion an active 8" Bazooka with the 250w amp and mount it in the spare wheel well.
You have the secondary battery for the power source and the speaker level input can be spliced from the 4 pin connector of the HK subwoofer. The HK sub is a 2 ohm dual voice coil chassis. Just pick 1 channel and route new wires to the Bazooka speaker level input. That's all you need for wires and you're set. The Bazooka has auto switch on/off so as soon as the music plays, you have maybe a 5 sec delay start.
I pulled the wheel well carpet off from the back and glued a piece of 1/2" thick wood to the bottom sheet metal. The tie down straps of the tube have 2 brackets which will mount to it.
You don't loose any trunk space and the sound will improve tremendously. The cost maybe south of 300.-
That's my idea anyways.
Alternatively, you can purchase a single channel amp like the Ampire MMX1, combine it with a new 8" sub and remove the funky HK sub from the speaker box. Make sure you buy a chassis for closed compartments.
Let me know what you end up doing.
Ed

Today is your lucky Day!

Hi ,
Please search for my older thread:
"High Power Sub Upgrade for W212" I would post the link directly, but for some reason I can't seem to do it. Hmmmmm

I am a former speaker design engineer for Velodyne. So you might say I'm a bit of an audiophile! If you go through the above thread, you should get all the info you need. You can also see pictures of the installation I went with. Project cost me about $1200 in total and I have an easily removable 1200W 12 inch sub. You will also find where in the trunk cable harness to tap into the low-pass lines to drive the sub input.

Check it out. Have fun. I love my low-end now. It literally makes hair shake on top of my head! LOL
