Ceramic Coating
My car has obsidian black paint. I’ve wrapped the front and now am considering ceramic coating. My first two choices are the CQuartz Finest and the Gtechniq. I’ve read at least one review that suggested that the CQuartz left the paint with a “wet” appearance. I want the paint to be as close to natural as possible, so a wet look would be undesirable. I would appreciate hearing opinions from folks who have applied these coatings. Thanks in advance.

My wife’s car (silver) has CQuartz and I was mentioned to her just a few days ago that in 18 months since having it done by my detailer there isn’t a single swirl mark or scratch on it. I considered trading it in on a 2018 and the dealer inspected it and simply said “well your car is perfect”. I would not call it a wet finish but that may just be a function of silver vs black.

I’ve got the CQuartz as well on cardinal red metallic. I wouldn’t describe it as wet, but the color seems deeper and richer. I had 2 coworkers ask me about it because they noticed the difference. I’ve had it for almost a year now and am happy with the results. Hope that helps!

I had mine done with a Modesta coating and am pretty satisfied. I do miss waxing the car....not really. I also wrapped the car first and then had the coating put on.

I have used CQuartz Finest on prior (black) A8 and after three years it was still perfect. Beaded water and washed away dirt easily. Zero scratches. I only hand wash and in winter avoid washing too often to ensure I have enough water and time to let it soak before washing.
Love the stuff.

Don't do it yourself. Take it to an installer who can do paint correction first (unless you're an expert detailer yourself). I paid maybe two grand for Ceramic Pro and it turned out spectacular. They spent like four days just paint correcting and applying.

I’m vascillating between the QCeramic Professional and the CQ Finest Reserve—both professional applications. Your pricing and timeframe sound more like the latter. Do you recall whether it was one of these or, possibly, a previous version?

A lot is going to depend on who you hire to install it, check reviews/references.

I have ceramic coating on my cars Cquartz and its a night and day differemce. It brings the richness of the car's paint alive! you can feel the thick/depth layer on the car and its just smooth like glass! no swirl marks EVER and makes cleaning super easy. Just make sure you get a full paint correction/detail prior to ceramic coating; which i think is the standard anyways
I say do it! you wont regret, well worth the moneys
