Custom Steering wheel question
Hi everyone,
getting tired of the alcantara on my steering wheel - hard to keep clean and don't like the feel of it anymore.
Checked out custom steering wheel options and found that there are quite a few with variety of pricing and configurations.
Question for you guys: what should a fair price of a custom wood/leather AMG steering wheel be? Is $2400 reasonable or on the higher side?
Thank you for all your help!

Seems on the higher side to me, but it may be because you’re going with a custom wood wheel. I purchased an all Napa DTM style contoured wheel for my R171 about 4 years ago for $700 and have seen prices below $2000 on eBay for W212 steering wheels that are mostly a carbon fiber and leather combo. I’ve enjoyed the custom wheel and am considering changing the one in my wagon as well. Good luck on your purchase!

$2400 is way too much. I’d say $1000 up to $1500 depending on materials is max. I got mine down and was sub $1000. It wasn’t perfect but he’s addressing those items but overall, thrilled I swapped to full leather.

Who is you guy!? What were the issues and why did you not do the airbag cover?

- trim was scratched
- buttons were scratched
- hole on the side to pop airbag out was torn open (nothing will be done to address this)
New trim and buttons are suppoedly on the way. I used my wheel's buttons and decided to get the AMG trim since it was taking too long for my liking to address scratches plus saw it as an opportunity to add a bit. As for the air bag, it doesn't bother me. Sure the leather would be a nice touch but way down on my priority list on and not a big ROI for me.

You can check out CKM Car Design. I havent order from them, I watch a video they have about adding a 10 inch tablet to the w212 commmand system. They have a ton of stuff for W212s including steering wheels.
